So who's on top here?

By area, it's a bit more than half Coyote (assuming the lower right mouth belongs to Ys)... which would suggest he's the dominant member of the fused being. He's also literally in the "top" left, occupying the first part of the page if you were to "read" it (in most languages at least). His eye ("I") is central; poor Ys's green eye is. pushed to the side, almost off the page...

Viewing the page either direct or upside down, using either mouth, Coyote seems to be smiling/pleased. In the most sensible orientation (up-side down), poor Ys, pushed to the margin (again), is upset/unhappy. Sounds about right....

There are 3 eyes, there are 3 things being shown here. Ysengrin, grey and brown, bottom right, growling, angry or unhappy. Coyote, bordered with black, top left, grinning, but with his eye slipping down below the brown stripe that heralds the middle section of Yesenyote or whatever. Blue, red, brown and grey. And that part has a big ol' grin while looking up at the coyote parts.
So, I'd say the split is a lot more even than the above people suggested.
Other things of note...lot of teeth like shapes to the coyote part, the white bits poking in, and even his eye has a somewhat tooth shape to it.

I want a print of this page. Or a canvas. Could make an interesting/scary throw rug or blanket...

Since Coyote is covered by fur patterns that look like eyes, I was figuring that was what the second Coyote "eye" was. But you might be right... and its a bit difficult then to parse where Ysenote/Coysengrin begins from pure Ys or pure Coyote. But a more even split, then. Maybe... I like the symbolism, but I can't help thinking Coyote is still in charge here...

hmm i agree with the image containing two happy coyotes and one angry ysengrin. i think now they're fused, ysengrin would be angry because he got all his memories back and realises the depth of coyotes manipulation. its possible that he doesnt care but i think it's way more possible that coyote is using ysengrin as an excuse to attack the court- possibly completely overriding him. so when coyote's 'caught' or stopped he's able to use ysengrin as a scapegoat.

Top left - Coyote. Middle - Coysengrin. Bottom - Ysengrin. Just like usual.

He looks more like a regular coyote here than the weird-looking creature we know him as. (Maybe the fact that the setting is evidently the American Southwest - the traditional setting for the Coyote of legend - has something to do with it?)

He looks like a regular coyote because it's about his journey to becoming the Coyote that we know and love watching his apparent demise Source

Has everyone seen this? I'm excited! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (translation: "I'm excited too") As a grown man, I shamelessly and emphatically second that SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. As for speculation on the nature of Coyote's demise and just how dead he really is, I'm going to pull from one of this comic's more well known endorsers-Neil Gaiman. Let's speculate, for a moment, that Coyote is really, truly dead. That doesn't necessarily mean he will remain dead. This world is quite literally shaped by belief after all, and Coyote's stories are already out there. He is already a legend, and legend's don't die so easily. There's nothing to say residual belief won't reshape him similar to a certain event in a certain Gaiman story (any of you who have read it will know exactly which one I mean, but I'm trying to avoid spoilers). That said, whether it would be the same Coyote is another matter. Belief is a fickle thing after all.

The beautiful thing being that you could be referring to one of two Gaiman stories (that I'm aware of) with that description. So. Stinking. Excited.

Neil Gaiman <3 <3 <3 Aren't there more than 2 you could refer to where a character was/is dead but need not be forever dead?... anyhow! No matter. I'm excited to know more about Coyote. Do you think he was ever less of a meanie or less self-centered?
