My interpretation / spec of this page is that Y was in control for the previous events of this chapter, but this is Coyote taking control back now. The "coyoteness" is leaving through the right side, and the Coyote ear on Y's right side is very prevalent in the second panel (plus there's the obvious strain in Y's eye in the third panel, as well). Will definitely be interesting to see how this goes!

Can't go over so you travel through those really handy roots you put up to go under! What's more confusing is the waters are still muddied as to how much of what we're seeing is Ys or Coyote, or if there is even a distinction anymore.

This is either Ysenote doing the dryad thing (to infiltrate via the roots?), or Coyote saying he's had his little bit of fun.
The look in the second last panel suggests the latter.

The woods are full of his spies, even some of the trees are on his side.

I'm pretty sure he just turned into a tree so he could watch the court's next move in secret? If Coyote is in there, I don't think he's ready to leave just yet. Things are just getting started.

Two possibilities come to mind:
1) Ysengrin is going to wait patiently for Gunnerkrigg people to come out and investigate, then either hitch a ride or replace one of them. A Trojan Horse as it were.
2) Ysengrin is going to bypass the barrier somehow, using his trees inside the court either to teleport or to travel underground along roots.

What are those roots tying Ysengrin to the soil while Coyote is leaving to that tree ?! Why am I feeling anxious for Ys ? Where is this all going to end ?! And I'm on madjack's side on this, I do believe he will travel through those handy roots.

Yeah, this could mean so much. Is YC just going to go camo in the trees until the Court sends out a scouting party? Is YC going to use the trees' roots to head into the Court? Is The Entity being split up back in to Y 'n C, eh?
Maybe Coyote was just using Y's anger and body as a vessel to test out the remaining Court defenses now that the Guardian of the waters is gone, and is now retreating once again from Y, to publicly punish him afterwards... Wait, that one actually makes a little sense and sounds exactly like something Coyote might do. "Oh no, it wasn't me, it was Ysengrin, he stole my powers! It took some time and effort, but because of me being ME and amazing, I managed to pull myself back together (HA) and have utterly punished that bad Ysengrin. HE won't be doing something like that ever again!"

Coyote is totally bat-poop insane. Also now if he is using the trees to get into the court does it mean the Court have essentially locked themselves in with Coyote? Maybe the whole attack is a diversion! He is interested in something in the court and now everyone is looking towards the forest! *wild speculation intensifies*

Maybe I am just slow and y'all already thought this pages ago but I am starting to think Ys is Coyote's fall guy. Rattle the Court's bones a bit and blame the stupid old wolf? Edit: Or maybe this is what it is all about: what would Ys do if he knew the ghost was gone? Coyote gets bored now and then so maybe he just wanted to spice things up?

And I'm on madjack 's side on this, I do believe he will travel through those handy roots. Maybe, since the trees were Coyote's strong bones, that body is turning back into a tree because the godly essense is leaving it, the same way Coyote's body turned to stone when he left it. I think it's made to look like Coyote is leaving the body just to mess with our theories and people assuming that's still Ysengrin and he'll use the roots to get into the Court are probably right

I'm not counting any of the adult-types because I expect that they are going to have a super-organized, elaborate plan that might keep Ysenyote busy but will ultimately fail. My original theory may still be right after all? Though I'm still impressed by Anja's forcefield.

It's a good heh too! But he does not turn into something else after saying it. Yeah, this could mean so much. Is YC just going to go camo in the trees until the Court sends out a scouting party? Guys, I think he just noticed that Eggers is coming and turned into a tree to hide or mess with him. That's a possibility, too. He might not be getting "out" of that current body to enter a tree, but could actually be turning into that tree. And I'm sure he'll just boink-spook Egglamore and they'll have a good laugh together

But whomst is Coysengrin looking back at? Some think Eggers. It could be Renard, come to ask him "Hey, WTF?" But I doubt either of these, because the force field around the court would prevent them from getting out (presuming they didn't exit before that). It may be some forest creature. It could be a forest elf. It could be some wassername. It could be <Snuffle>. Or maybe Coysengrin is just fond of looking over his shoulder with his bloodshot eyes. Also, I just rememebered that in chapter 31, Eglamore creates a small-scale purple shield that resembles the one we saw in this chapter. Did he make this chapter's shield too?

Coyote is not leaving Ysengrin. Coyotes powers are not leaving Ysengrin.
A part of his brown tail is stretching up in the penultimate panel too, along with the rooting happening around his paws. He's turning into a tree, likely to ambush an incoming threat. Presumably dragonslayer?
I know you guys are all super ready to predict the return of Coyote, but (and I'm not entirely convince it's inevitable) it's way too early for that sort of thing. More importantly...he's already killed a god, and is now only MORE powerful. Whoever or whatever he sensed coming is in big trouble. Unless it's Jones.

Anyone else wondering if Ysengrin can go back to his real body after this? Coyote doesn't exist so he can just deconstruct and recompose himself out of whatever natural materials are handy, but I'm not sure Ys will be the same afterwards...

As I've mentioned before, Coyote needs to stay dead for a few chapters to let us feel the impact of what Ysengrin did to him. If he's back as his familiar self by the end of the chapter, it would feel too much like "Automatic Reset".

More importantly...he's already killed a god, and is now only MORE powerful. Most importantly it's not completely played out yet - and from what we have seen before, Coyote would rather let a joke roll on until it becomes boring.
