Is this where the odd couple become the Dynamic Duo? (Psst. Annie! I get you might want to wait for Eggers to Shazam in before explaining the situation, but you could at least tell Rey to wait.)

If I had a semi-magical beacon like that I would also keep it with my pens.

I wonder if it's not going to work, since she snapped it in her room: Papa Carver said he put her there cause the Court can't watch her there - could it be that it's etherically shielded too? ...I suppose she was able to project out to her Blinker from that room, that one time.
Call me apprehensive.
At least Rey is there - he can be caught up on things, if nothing else.

I hope Eglamore and Parley arrive in some fashion other than "bounding leap through the air oh hey Ysengrin".
I mean, to be fair, his terrestrial reach makes ground travel dicey too, but meeting him in the air just seems like the opposite of a chef's kiss moment.

"rumble"? What was that, Annie tripping and falling down the stairs in her haste?

I must have misremembered, or heard someone speculating and ended up taking that up as canon. Nevermind. Less apprehensive, now. Thanks, actually, haha.

Hmm. Can Rey possess Ysengrin?

Welcome to the forums! Hmm. Can Rey possess Ysengrin? That's unclear, though it has been formsprung by the author that Renard couldn't possess Coyote (unless Coyote wanted to go along with it for the giggles) so I'll answer a tentative "no" since Ysengrin has Coyote's powers. For the same reason Ys can strip Renard of his gift at will. Two caveats: 1. Ys probably has to think of doing these things in order to do it so it might change things if Renard makes a surprise attack, though maybe not if it's just a matter of willpower, and 2. there's probably a limitation on Coyote's gift of power that we don't know about yet.

How the etheric 'ownership' works is going to be important soon methinks. I can't help but get the feeling Kat researching Rey's 'contract' is setup for something significant.

Coyote gave Ysengrin his strength. This doesn't mean "all his abilities and skills". There's no reason to think Ysengrin's abilities are identical to Coyote's when it comes to other things than turning buildings into rubles.

Hmm. Can Rey possess Ysengrin? Even if he can, I'm not sure he would, because Reynardine's possessing someone would mean that person's death. Judging from how he feels about it now, I don't think Reynardine would embark on such an approach lightly. On the other hand, Ysengrin is endangering the Court, and if there are no other ways of stopping him.... Rey had better hope that they can find another solution, quickly, before the characters think of that option.

Thanks for the link. I think we know at least one limitation on Coyote's power: he and his powers do not exist. I have a few theories what that can mean in the current situation (I apologise in advance for my English): 1) If Coyote is truly dead as an entity then his powers and gifts may probably vanish. If that's the case, it can be really bad for Renard and he probably should be evacuated from the toy as soon as possible. 2) Even if Coyote is dead, an almighty trickster god as a concept still exists in the Ether. So Coyote will either rematerialise or reincarnate later. 3) Even if Coyote will not rematerialise or reincarnate, in human minds and the Ether his powers still are powers of a trickster. Ys is not a trickster, therefore he can't have these powers. So, maybe these powers will go to a more suitable host, for example, a certain another canine trickster. 4) Another possibility is that Ys will still have the powers, but he himself will be changed into a trickster to suit them better. 5) Right now there are only two humans who know what happened to Coyote and Ysengrin. If Court keeps it a secret, then no one will believe in almighty Ysengrin. Therefore, the way Ether works, Ys can't be almighty.

The only one who could is Annie and she won't give an order like that. It would be a betrayal both of Rey and Ysengrin, who she both sees as friends, and of her nature, which is to save murderous ghosts of rage rather than destroy them. Rey will probably play a role though. Others have pointed this out before, but Reynardine is a trickster, whose legend is almost exclusively about fooling Ysengrin. And he has a vested interest in protecting Annie.

Does anyone else want to see Eglamore and Parley burst through the white walls, like the Kool Aid Man? Eglamore: "Oh, yeah!" Parley, seeing Ysengrin's destruction: "Oh, no!" but Reynardine is a trickster, whose legend is almost exclusively about fooling Ysengrin. And he has a vested interest in protecting Annie. That's why I'm of the mindset, that Rey will play an important part in stopping all this. Of course, Tom could decide to subvert the folklore, and have the Y/Rey dynamic be more protagonist than antagonistic, with Y still seeing Rey as a Court prisoner. Maybe, Rey could stop the architectural carnage by agreeing to return to the Forest.

(I might add that I don't think the Court would be too keen on the idea of Rey possessing Ysengrin, since he'd then be free - and while we know that Reynardine's changed, I don't think the Court higher-ups would know or believe that. They'd be expecting him, the moment he's free, to go on a possession rampage, which would be almost as dangerous as whatever Ysengrin could do.)

Wildspec prediction: Eggers and Parley will make a delayed entrance... On the back of an Orjak.
Which if it comes to pass, would raise some VERY interesting questions about just why Annie was put in that room.....

(and your English is just fine, especially for a cephalopod!) in reply to: 1) unclear... do his powers exist independently of himself? we shall see... 2) agree! Ive always like the idea of the gang reconstituting Coyote from the giggle blade + goose bone + Coyote water TM 3) interesting idea.... 4) Ysote already acts/talks a little oddly now to be purely just Ysengrin anymore; I feel a bit of Coyote's personality has leaked into the "new improved" Ys at this point... does he get some power leakage too? again, we shall see... 5) But even if the Court keeps it a secret, all of them will have seen almighty Ysote and they will believe... they will have first-hand experience! So I would think that alone would support Ys in his current state... of course if he, say, meets Jones and he is shown not to be almighty after all, then that would become etherically factual as well.

I still want to know what's happening with the robots. Eggles and Parley riding on Rey's back as they lead an advancing robot army against Ysengrin would be pretty damn awesome.

The Ether is "powered" by the memories, thoughts, beliefs and stories of beings who have died. So, in order for a God's power to be changed by belief, a lot of people have to die believing something different about said God.

Maybe Annie is trying to avoid telling Rey on purpose? She knows the Renard stories..... Somehow though I think she might just be sort of breathless instead.

Therefore, the way Ether works, Ys can't be almighty. I'm not sure we should read in too much about that rule. Jeanne was almost a complete secret thanks to the Founders hushing her up, and that didn't stop her from being a killing machine.

Then he transformed into something with attributes of both Ys and Coyote. Now Ys can fly. Not sure if he can sense stuff far away because he had power of trees from before but maybe he has some sort of farsight too. I'm not sure exactly what "strength" means but for now I'm using Coyote's powers as a baseline.
