I just can't help, throughout this chapter, contrasting how Antimony would act under the same circumstances.

in the battle of food vs sleep, sleep always wins (for me anyway). Wonder what kind of food they have. with weeks between supply drops, I don't think they would have a lot of fresh produce. but they seem to have refrigeration, so maybe something better than military style rations? or lots of ramen?

Yes, Surma is exhausted and when she wakes up she'll need protein. Sleep is a good start.

Wow, Surma. I can barely get my arm into that position, much less fall asleep that way.
Also: There's nothing more attractive to a woman than a man who offers to make her dinner. (At least, I hope so.)

(At least, I hope so.) The fastest way to anyone's heart is through the stomach. Mainly because if you go that way you don't have to deal with those pesky ribs!

Looking at this, Tony is someone who'd thrive in a domestic, rustic environment, with his own space, and people he loves. He's so natural and un-awkward here.
Spending time in the court must slowly choke him to death. I'm sure that, plus the guilt from nearly killing his daughter made the prospect of returning to the court in the modern day a heinous thought.

Surma's gonna have a sore neck in the morning, sleeping in that position... Nah. There's people who sleep on their bellies. I'm one of them. I can say that, at least with me, I'm so used (and comfortable) with sleeping on my belly that whenever I try to sleep on my back (and with a pillow), my neck aches for the entire day following! It's all about what you're used to. (That, and people who sleep on their bellies tend to either use a thin pillow, like Surma does here, or no pillow at all, like me.)

I used to sleep exactly like that, too. Then I got a bit older, and I began to get horrible neck cramps every morning, until I finally figured out that my once-preferred sleeping position had become the bane of my bone structure. I had to condition myself to sleep on my side to not suffer terrible daily pain for the rest of my life.

Or burrow their heads under their pillow, like I tend to do.
