I guess that puts all of our theories to rest. Or not. At least it appears her feet didn't really become gigantic, as some had believed. Head's still smoking like a soggy campfire, I really wonder what's up with that.

Eh? I haven't seen this one yet... 0.o Edit: Hey, now, posting early isn't hardly fair. But, I guess this would appear to be the official thread for it now. My comments after the break.

Is this like when someone makes a "So what did you get your mother for mother's day" thread, and half the people freak out thinking they forgot mother's day?

Oh. *deletes previous post*
Zimmy just looks like a normal girl now. I mean that in a good way. She looks like all her troubles are gone, which they probably are.

For some reason I can't get gunnerkrigg.com tp update any earlier than it currently does. Something to do with the local timezones where the servers are kept.

What? What?! WHAT?! No! Nothing was solved! TOM! Get back here! Explain!
...This is one of those stories where the weirdness is never explained, isn't it? Gunnerkrigg Court is a strange school where impossible things happen and we'll never know why or even what, mostly.
...*sobs*

I always thought that the thing about Zimmy's feet was just a perspective issue - that is, the way that she was drawn in the picture where they seemed enormous was really a case where the feet just happened to be closer to the viewer, so they'd seem bigger.
But, just so that I can be certain of this: Zimmy has normal teeth now, right? That's the way that she looks in the final picture where she's smiling, but I want to be certain that I saw it correctly.
Of course, the mystery has not been entirely solved (though we wouldn't have much incentive to keep on reading if it had been, would we?). There are still a few questions left, such as:
Are Zimmy's weird traits gone for good? How did she get them in the first place? Could any rainstorm have had this curative effect upon her, or just this specific one? (Given how often it rains in the UK, and that she'd been having this problem for over a year, I suspect the latter.)
As a side-note, I'm also glad that Annie's cut is gone again; I was half-afraid that she'd end up with a facial scar for life.

Just read through the whole chapter again. It's pretty intertesting, my guess is we'll get a fuiller explanation later.

One other thing that I noticed when I looked over it again: judging from Gamma's words to Annie, she and Zimmy must still have their link.

'Course, it would figure if I'd read this on this board already just a couple of days ago, so apologies if I've forgotten, but I agree with the old sentiment that if there's a closed door, the reader will always be able to imagine there is something much more terrible/awe-inspiring behind it if it is left that way. Even though there have been a few rare exceptions, I really like the fact that Tom isn't blatantly revealing everything. Or anything. Mystery like that is sadly uncommon.
And I'm happy for Zimmy. X)

Apologies in advance for terseness. The demons in my head are particularily riled this morning.
So, another fascinating chapter wraps up. Brilliant artwork and character development.
Mysteries solved: 1) Zimmy has eyes. Beautiful ones. 2) She didn't turn into some kind of monster. 3) The rain does not hurt her. 4) She CAN smile.
Mysteries not solved: 1) What exactly the effect of the rain is. 2) Is there anything special about this particular storm? 3) Does this happen every time it rains? 4) Is this a one-time transformation, or a routine event? 5) WHAT is she? 6) Why did Annie's cut come and go? 7) What's the connection between Zimmy's visions, reality changing, and rain? 8) Why would Tom close with such a slaphead comment?
No doubt I've missed countless others. Argh. Can't focus. Noise.

Mystery solved my [beep]. We know there is much more to Zeta than we initially thought. But I do like her smile.

Lemme try my hand, mrw;
1) She's got eyes now, for one. Seems like her link with Gamma's been strengthened, too. Before it seemed like they could only communicate when touching, but at the end there Gamma was expressing Zimmy's gratitude from a distance.
2) The storm broke over Gunnerkrigg Court - that's special enough, I guess.
3) Probably not.
4) Probably not routine, seems like a big deal.
5) She's a girl with new eyes.
6) Zimmy sometimes sees things that are really there, even if other people don't. Antimony saw death spirits, Zimmy sees... other things...
7) Well, er, uh...
8) Well, SOME mysteries were solved! Sorta! A little!

I agree with Uglyhead on the subject of Annie's scar; I believe it's been there, in some form, all the time – a sort of spiritual scar, if you will – however none but Zimmy can see it, because of her abilities. Because of this example I think all the things Zimmy see are in some form real, but not necessarily in this time or place, or even this plane of existence.

TOM YOU DID NOT EXPLAIN ANYTHING. (goes to closet and pulls out pitchforks and torches for the mob and then realizes he does not know where Tom lives). What did he explain?

Zimmy! J'adore! She's so adorable all the time now. Maybe this will usher in a new era of Zimmy being happy...or not. Tom, there was no solving of mysteries! There will be a riot soon, I think, with rastarogue at the head...

No, Tom, no. It's not solved at all. You have to remember that we can't read your mind.
Anyway, Gamma's reaction pretty much means that this happens every time it rains...but it doesn't solve anything.
