At first I didn't even notice Annie's timeskip-hair growth because I was too distracted by her shirt. Which I love.
Annie's really a fashionable young lady. Though personally I think she'd look better here without the clip in her hair, but really, like she's not going to wear it? After Smitty almost died to get it back?

This page shows how much Annie has changed from the early days of the comic. Back then, I couldn't imagine her wearing a t-shirt like that.

I think that's about right. 4 months would be around 5cm. With his research and attention to detail, I doubt Tom would just approximate this.

This mental image was... uncalled for. Anyway, for comparison, the last time we saw Annie vs. todays page:  This seems like extremely fast hair growth to me... Well actually, I don't think I can adequately judge this, because my hair has springy curls and I can never tell it's actual length. And I'm bad at estimates anyway... and even if this is fast, well, who knows how fire-elemental genetics work, hah! |

The tweet thickens the plot. We've known Annie to be a quiet and reserved person who wears unusually conservative clothes (for her young age) at all times. Now she's picking more youthful, outgoing shirts with youthful slogans solely because she doesn't understand what those youthful slogans mean. This shirt is a sign of some serious character development on Annie's part, and I really do mean that. I would interpret this a as an effort to stand out and be different. And yeah, as proven by the comparison image above, either Annie uses hair growth steroids or it's been a really long time jump since the last page. My hair does grow super slow though, so maybe I'm not the best judge. The idea that it's been a really long time since Kat first encountered the Shadow Men means that A) either Annie is going to walk into the room and be unsurprised by who she sees there, because she's aware of the situation, or B) Annie is going to walk into the room and be shocked by what she sees, which wouldn't make such sense to me. If it's been 4 months or so, surely Annie would have visited Kat at least once or twice and know what's up. Unless Kat is suddenly in the business of keeping huge secrets from her BFF, which might be the case if the mystery colleague is Annie's father. |

SAAAMME with the springy curls. Welp Annie had hair down to past her shoulder blades just before she went into the forest for vacation and a month and a half later it was down to...well it's hard to say because it doesn't seem to want to stay down but I would say solidly down to the small of her back. so *shrug*? I'm probably just jealous.
Edit: gotdangit I was quoting fish about having springy curls and being unable to adequately judge hair length over time.
