Indeed, bah.
I want to know if they'll teleport away or if we're just going to accept his impeding death.
Also what was Kat holding? The arrow container?

Also what was Kat holding? The container for the arrow. I guess the first priority is to get rid of the dangerous murder-ghost who stabbed your friend, and get help after that's done. Hopefully Smitty's luck will last a few minutes more...

Yeah, I mean it's awesome to see Jeanne's rage ghost veneer go away and these two finally being able to move on. It really is. But SMITTY!?
Also, it appears the cut on Annie's cheek is back.

But but but... What about the Smitts!?!? You can't leave us hanging like this! (Yes he can) It's just not right! (Obviously) How could you?! (He does it all the time).
In other news: this is really quite interesting! Returning to normal eh?

Not surprised Antimony (the medium) is doing some guiding. Am a little surprised that a rubber raft plays a role in the guiding.
[edit] Actually, since we can see the scar in the last panel, maybe the raft that will be used isn't the "real" raft. [/edit]

Yeah, Tom is openly trolling at this point. I no longer believe Smitty is going to die.
The Elf and Jeanne seem to have snapped back to the moment the arrow hit, and Annie acts as if she knows exactly what to do. I wonder how what she's doing is compatible with the need to collect their final records, or with the name of this chapter.

"Sorry" indeed! Sounds like Jeanne and Green Guy don't have a clear idea of how much time has actually elapsed.
From the last frame, Annie has slipped into the Etheric. Is she going to 'ferry' them, now? (I have thought of another possibility, involving Foley.)
What is Kat going to do with the arrow (other than science the shit out of it)?

I can't see Parley or Andrew in any shot so it's possible that they have already teleported out.

is it just me or are the scene transitions in this chapter a little awkward A little. Tom usually has a big buffer. He's had the arc in this chapter planned for a long time, so he's had plenty of time to refine the storytelling. You may find it makes more sense if you go back and read the chapter when it's finished. Also, I don't think Smitty is about to die, but what purpose does his stabbing serve? The only thing I can think of is to ask: who's good with injuries?

I feel like they're both well aware of how long it's been, and the elf is cracking a joke. After all, he was aware enough to take hold of Annie's hair clip. Also, I don't think Smitty is about to die, but what purpose does his stabbing serve? The only thing I can think of is to ask: who's good with injuries? The purpose is that this whole event was a serious risk that could, and should have had dire consequences. Even with intense planning and incredible power, Jeanne wasn't a force to be trifled with.

There is no comment from Tom today, so he's still doing the comment thing. Smitty will live!
Also: Damn, a few pages ago I wanted to make a comment in the lines of Annie on a boat to the other shore with a ghost and a zombie making out in the back. But I forgot. Now I can't say "I called it". Ugh.

But Annie told them to continue down the river, not cross to the other shore. Well the elf guy has finally reached "the other shore" where Jeanne has been waiting for him for centuries. OK, good one. Not sure I buy "the other shore... but from the elf's perspective", but it's an explanation.

They collect final records before they change, which is kindof hard to do underwater, or when someone is all 'I'll kill you if you come too close!'. Now that they're changing, they're losing their ghost memories. (which makes record-collecting kinda hard maybe?) --- Edit: Also: Nice way to get rid of any evidence, Annie.

I wonder if we will see an honorguard of guides as Jeanne and her lover cross over? The ROTD was also involved with Jeanne's death. I wonder if anyone from their group will make an appearance?

The other shore of the etherial beyond....

... What is Kat going to do with the arrow (other than science the shit out of it)? At least someone is moving with a sense of urgency, but Kat may be getting the arrow away from Green Guy and Jeanne rather than rushing to get it to Smitty. ... From the last frame, Annie has slipped into the Etheric. Is she going to 'ferry' them, now? (I have thought of another possibility, involving Foley.) ... In addition to Annie's etheric scar, the border between the last two panels is tilting. It isn't twisted, but it isn't straight like the border usually are when we are seeing the normal world.

On this page we see Kat gathering wood for the pyre, ignoring Smitty's claims that he's not dead yet.

We know it can delay death for an arbitrary period, holding things in stasis... maybe it could be used to keep Smitts stable until they can get him to help, or get help to him? good catch on the panel border, btw...

Oh god, you've just given me a terrible thought. Jeanne and Elf-guy were lovers trapped at the Annan waters by their love for each other after one was shot and killed by that arrow. Now we have a new pair of lovers, Parley and Smitty, at the Annan waters, one who has just been (maybe?) fatally injured, and Kat is currently running towards while holding the arrow...

I had the same thought (which is exciting), but I'm betting the arrow will serve another purpose. There are other nefarious uses, as well. What would Kat do if Paz got hurt, and had "options" she didn't have before to save her? From the mood of these panels, it seems Smitty's not in "danger". Either from plot armor, luck powers, or fairy illusion. Or course, "danger" is relative.

Am I the only one who thinks Annie should let them have some time (a couple years/decades) together before sending them to the unknown of the other side? The court could use a replacement for Mort after all
