Are the cables for reprogramming the arrow, or are they for manipulating Jeanne remotely? Manipulation seems pretty shady for the Scooby Gang, but I hope the do something safe. Just because they cut Jeanne's strings, won't mean she'll want to go, or stop slaying.

...the ease of which our heroes have done their task during the last few pages makes me nervous that Jeanne has brutally slaughtered the rest of them while we were away or something. Though that doesn't correspond with last time we saw Jeanne.

I've been waiting a long time for this one. That click sounds thunderous in my ears. How soon d'you reckon the Court works this out? How soon d'you reckon Coyote exploits it? Well meaning though Annie and co are, I can't help but feel all hell is going to break loose because they didn't investigate WHY the old Court did what it did besides being generalised bastards.

My thoughts exactly. After all, if Evangelion taught me something, is that SEELE and Gendo were being utter c***s, but for cosmically good reasons.

Indeed, I've been saying this all along. There will definitely be some major negative consequences for this. The court placed a guardian there for a reason. Jeanne was chosen out of Diego's plan for revenge, but even without her the court was planning SOME sort of guardian, SOMEONE would have been chosen, and for a reason.

Looking at this page, I get the impression that Annie is still in the ether - and she's etherically moving her hands around in hopes of freaking Kat out a little less. (Which may not work, because the resulting movements may not look natural.)
This is at least a plausible possibility, considering that she still needs to round up Green & Jeanne and guide them into the ether.

If the Tooth is an artillery piece aimed at Jones, is the Arrow now another pointed at... Coyote? If only as a temporary inconvenience, to be fired by Janet for reasons. *tinfoil*

Its narrative purpose may be complete after this chapter.

Kind of a Ghostbusters containment device feeling here. Nothing much to say about all this. I'm waiting. Eagerly.

I absolutely love how Kat is completely awed by what Annie is doing, when just a couple pages ago Kat was underwhelmed by the ether and Annie was awed by Kat. There skills compliment each other perfectly.

I'm left wondering...
Was it really this difficult to release Jeanne? That seems odd to me. So many lives lost, and a bunch of teenagers somehow have it nailed down. You would think Gunnerkrigg has agents at least as competent as the individual members of this little dance party.
I know that it's about the main characters, and they're supposed to demonstrate badassery, but they live in a world where humans can power up with just some training and tattoos. There has to be an explanation for why the Court hasn't fixed this problem already, aside from the fact that they want to cover up how Jeanne got down there. It's possible to covertly clean up the mess that they made, and they'd have reason to: leaving Jeanne down there is what gave Annie the chance to learn the plot.

The Court were the ones who put her down there in the first place. They're using her as a tool to protect the Court from the forest, so they want her down there. The ones that lost their lives to her were forest creatures who went to challenge her, and the psychopomp. They're probably going to be pissed when they find out what Annie and the gang did.

Also, I don't think the council of douchebags that put her down there in the first place left a record of their actions. In fact, according to my admittedly flawed recollection, they actively strove to erase any knowledge of it. Except Diego, who regretted his actions, and left a living record in his robots.

Yeah, one of this group's primary accomplishments was to even figure out that there was a job to be done. Probably lots of people over the years had the skill to do so, but remember that the psychopomps and ROTD didn't even know Jeanne's name, let alone what was done to her.

The arrow is much brighter now than it used to be. Is it only because it's above water, or is has it "changed modes" somehow?
Also, what happened to the Green Man's spirit? So many questions!

My question has been resolved. I look forward to seeing how the Court reacts to their upstart Forest Medium teaming with the Court Medium and his protector in order to take care of the Court's dirty secrets. Their entire diplomatic team can deal their dirty laundry at any moment.

I have the terrible terrible feeling that Green man is about to come out of the water, run to the shore ; Jeanne will KNOW he's now free, but still, they'll miss each other because they're on different reality plans, and they can't see each other. And even if the mission is a real success in its goals, it will have a bitter end because of that...
And I sure hope I'm wrong.

Well meaning though Annie and co are, I can't help but feel all hell is going to break loose because they didn't investigate WHY the old Court did what it did besides being generalised bastards. We know (as do Annie and the rest) why the Court did it - because they believed that it was the only way to keep themselves safe from the forest-folk. Annie and the rest have found a better way of solving the problem (as we saw a couple of chapters back with the fairy's visit), one which the Founders didn't consider (presumably because of their arrogance and disdain for the forest-folk - I suspect that they would have seen trying to sove their problems with Gilltie Wood peacefully as humiliating, having to treat beings that they looked upon as their inferiors as equals). And before we try justifiying the Founders' actions, let's not forget that the forest-folk have reasons to be angry at the Court, deeper than just "they're nasty and savage". The Founders apparently weren't good neighbors to the forest-folk (Coyote mentioned that the humans were trying to "tame" the forest-folk - perhaps as in trying to enslave them). And the forest-folk are probably uneasy about the Court's experiments (and with good cause - I still suspect that the Court is meddling with things that it doesn't understand and shouldn't be tampered with).
