Is it time for the omniously green-glowing thing? YES IT IS. How often it ISN'T time for the ominously green-glowing things? and even more than replicate, she has understood it well enough to *modify* it! She had 3 different designs to play with. If green-dude is pulled out with Annie, Jeanne will see him and maybe realize that this isn't just some moderately well-planned invasion of the Annan waters; they were springing her boyfriend from Diego's green prison. Or she could simply change priorities, in which case Parley would need only to get out of the way.

Also, Kat, really, you're keeping that in your pocket? Jeez, you don't know what kind of radiation that gives off. Mmmm; she probably does. This is Kat we're talking about, after all. I was going to say... Kat built it, so why assume she doesn't know what radiation it gives off? Could be perfectly harmless green light that just happens to be necessary because reasons!

And why would she attack Annie, if Annie has just liberated her long-submerged love? (Unless she is just a rage golem/Annan waters-guard, but it seems from her words and actions she is more than just an mindless sentinel...)

Kat, really, you're keeping that in your pocket? Jeez, you don't know what kind of radiation that gives off. You should be wearing lead shielding at least. Basic radiation experimental procedures, jeez! I would imagine that Kat knows what sort of radiation it's emitting - and also that it was emitting no radiation at all until she pulled it out of her pocket and turned it on.

what 3 designs do you mean? Diego's spirit-trap is not something unique. There were at least this and this - derivative, but implemented in a very different way, Jack knew what he was doing. And now that he has a part of this back and Jenny is around, Kat could have some advice from people who aren't as far in "I have no idea what am I doing" as Annie.

I am of the untrained opinion that either (a) this is the first part of a Kat plan to retreat or (b) it will pull Kat in. Because those would be cool and interesting results. If (a) though it may pull Annie out, or it may pull out greendude with her... in which case initiate Plan Uh-Oh. actually, I think this might work out OK. If green-dude is pulled out with Annie, Jeanne will see him and maybe realize that this isn't just some moderately well-planned invasion of the Annan waters; they were springing her boyfriend from Diego's green prison. They are there to help (not just provide her with some rapier practice....)! Welcome to the discussion, btw! Thank you! The reason I think it might not work out OK is that Kat said, "Don't make me use it" (http://gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1724), which leads me to believe she believes there will be some negative side-effects. If Kat believes something, I am likely to believe her...

If Kat believes something, I am likely to believe her... it could also mean that she doesnt completely understand how it works, so she's not quite sure *what* all might happen. That uncertainty breeding reluctance to use it, unless she really has no other options....

Well, this couldn't possibly go wrong. A masterpiece of a comment.

Or Kat might be reluctant to use it because it's connected to Diego's research, and she intensely dislikes the guy.
