GOD DAMN IT TOMI don't even care if you kill Annie anymore. Just get it over with! No but seriously no one can manufacture stressful webcomic pages like Mr. Siddell. It's a testament to the strength of his writing. A very aggravating testament.

Well at least we know that the glowy arrow thing is still there after all.
I don't like the sickly green glowy things to be honest. What if it is ethero-active and thus dangerous??

Well then!! Annie's expression says a whole lot of things.
Due to experience, what Tom is gonna draw in the next page is probably going to be awesome. Or creepy.
My bets are on creepily awesome, though! I haven't been this excited for the next page to come out since this Monday! ;D
EDIT:: fixed my grammar, cause it's 3 AM on a weekday and I was actually planning to sleep pretty early tonight. Oh, Gunnerkrigg, what have you done to my sleep schedule...

I've been in freakout/fan boy mode basically since this chapter started. This page isn't helping!

We're primed to think "green magic glow is BAD" by the Harry Potter films, aren't we? heh... It works though. It works.
Just... for the sake of my nerves, I hope the next panel doesn't show a green man transfixed to the bottom of the river by the hateful arrow.

Daedalus must have read my mind at the exact moment when I saw today's page. Because the title of the thread is word for word what I had in mind. Yes, I think in english even though I'm french when I'm plunged into the Gunnerverse.
Édit : if someone would be kind enough to tell me what's wrong grammaticaly with my first sentence, it would be awesome.

I've been in freakout/fan boy mode basically since this chapter started. This page isn't helping! You and me both, brother. What if it is ethero-active and thus dangerous?? Yes. Due to experience, what Tom drew in the next panel is probably going to be awesome. Or creepy. My bets are on creepily awesome, though! I haven't been this excited for the next page to come out since this Monday! ;D I'm eagerly anticipating this Friday's comic. It's gonna be awesome. I was just hoping we would get the big reveal tonight, haha. Just... for the sake of my nerves, I hope the next panel doesn't show a green man transfixed to the bottom of the river by the hateful arrow. We both know that's probably the most likely result, haha. ...Which means that, by Gunnerkrigg rules, it will prove to be something completely different! Daedalus must have read my mind Curses, I did not yet intend to reveal the Etheric Mental Synchrotron! Forget you saw anything! *whooshes cloak and disappears*

Hmm, we never had a glimpse at the arrow in the ether before, did we? To be doing what it's doing, it has to be a bloody complicated construct, and judging by what happened to the tictoc, those have a tendency to... metastasize. I don't know what to expect, except it's probably not what I'm expecting and only remotely looking like an arrow pierced skeleton. EDIT: actually, I do expect one thing. A full page spread on Friday. Pleasepleaseplease

It has to be a bloody complicated construct, and judging by what happened to the tictoc, those have a tendency to... metastasize. It is the greatest creation of the ancient genius who first built the robots, and into it he poured his despair and jealousy. I expect Friday's panel to be nothing less than extraordinary. Also, "metastasize" is an astonishingly fitting word, considering THIS. I do expect one thing. A full page spread on Friday. My husband thinks we will discover a beautiful and awesome and baroque green etheric altar of some sort. And I wonder if there is left a forest elemental, Soul of the green Man, trapped in some sort of etheric cage, in the form of Brave's will-o-wisp.

Next chapter: Annie gets an etheric infection, from swimming in dirty river water with an open wound.

I don't even care if you kill Annie anymore. I care if you kill her. I care a lot. Nobody is allowed to hurt her. Because she makes Me happy. I like being happy. I like My Fire-Head Girl.

All I wanna say is Daedalus you kinda nailed this post good, dude. Like a huge green arrow streaking through the air towards our hearts and minds pinning us to the muddy depths of the river for ever and ever. Or something like that. Glorious page. Glorious art. but Tom get on with it!!!

We're primed to think "green magic glow is BAD" by the Harry Potter films, aren't we? Before Harry Potter, there was the Illearth Stone (not to mention kryptonite.) This could just be another wisp.

No but seriously no one can manufacture stressful webcomic pages like Mr. Siddell. It's a testament to the strength of his writing. A very aggravating testament. Actually, one of the things Tom has been working on recently has been to get the picture to tell the story. He's using far fewer words these days (First noticed this in 'Traveller') Freak Angels could get pretty intense, too. The classic case was when one character guarding another was debating with himself whether or not to kill his prisoner out of hand. Week ends with him pointing the gun and saying "Screw it." Next week has a single panel showing the gun up close, a spent cartridge being ejected. Caption reads "Skip Week"

We're primed to think "green magic glow is BAD" by the Harry Potter films, aren't we? heh... It works though. It works. I think the association goes further than that. Bad radiation or acid in fiction has almost always been green, and often glows green. Animals also tend to associate certain forms of green and yellow with sickness (Bile, vomit, etc), which is likely where the artistic association with radiation and acid came from to begin with as well, come to think...

I don't think we will see anyone being killed anytime soon. Oh, how I look forward to the next two weeks or more full of suspension.
What will we see instead? I bet Tom timed it right, that a double page might be possible, even though I doubt we will see one at this stage.
Instead, I could think of something huge. Something which glows a lot in the ether and renders Annie tiny in the upper left corner of the next page. Maybe something like an etheric cage with Jeanne's friend being trapped within. His body in our world long dissolved, his etheric counterpart being alive and caged in forever.
For me, this would explain, why Jeanne can't go. She still is connected to him spritually - much like Andrew to George maybe - and thus bound to stay near him.
On a side note: I adore this page. It seems like forever when we first saw Annie in the ether and for me she looks stronger and more serious than ever. As if she is fully aware that her play time in the ether is over and aware how much weight her duty actually carries. Tension and danger aside, this is awesome!

Well, I don't know what image will be stuck in my head all weekend, but I'm betting I'll find out on Friday. Or worse. Tom could cut to the surface. I'm still going with Green Man etherically bound.

He can’t kill Annie. I don’t mean I believe he won’t. I mean it’s essentially impossible for him to.
