If anyone is down there, he probably has the type of ears, Jeanne might know quite well.
Personally, I am really glad, Annie is able to project herself into the ether quite easily now. As she said, too sad the blinker stone was destroyed, but it is even more impressive seeing her abilities without it. And to be honest, nobody, not her, neither we will ever forget Mort.

Looks like Tom is changing the art style again. A little longer and the comic will be almost photorealistic in the ether.

Hey! Been a while since I posted to these forums. I REALLY love the relationship between Annie and Kat! They care so much about each other. It makes me all happy inside, seeing how they can assure so much with no words at all. I also wanted to note that the last strip of panels with ether!Annie falling into the river not only looks REALLY REALLY cool but also kind of reminded me of the first strip from this page! It's pretty cool too, as it serves as some sort of bookends to her arc. It kinda emphasizes the beginning and the end of this long journey to me. Which is just as cool as Annie looks in this page right about now. also, 777 and 3456. Coincidence or not, those are pretty cool numbers. I don't know, I just think that this chapter's been really cool so far.

That was so heartwarming! Oh, wait, was that a goodbye? Is Annie going to free the Green Guy, and Jeanne, by taking his place?* If that is their plan, then they wouldn't need the enclosure, but it might happen, after their plan goes awry.
* Not an original thought, of mine, but most of the speculation I can recall was Annie taking Jeanne's place, or more recently, Parley taking Jeanne's place.
Commas FTW,,,,,

Seeing how sharp Coyote's tooth is, I wonder how deep the river goes. It's rather wide, but it could very well be impossibly deep. The Ether could be the only way to reach the arrow. If that's the case, I'm betting Annie is supposed to put the arrow in the Enclosure etherically. Has she ever transported something, other than her blinker stone, through the Ether?

If etheric deep diving were an Olympic sport... (Why hello, James Cameron!) Well none of us have seen the competition in action. I suspect Coyote would be very good at it if he could stay focused.

I see little difference (not to say his style hasn't improved). Has she ever transported something, other than her blinker stone, through the Ether? She closed Red's laptop... trying to remember any other instance other than picking the flower with Coyote.

Would touching the arrow mess up her ether self? And it's nice seeing the fire streaks in her hair showing of her elemental side.

Looks like Tom is changing the art style again. A little longer and the comic will be almost photorealistic in the ether. Could you point out what you're referring to? I see little difference (not to say his style hasn't improved). Compare with gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1465. Notice how previously all the shading was one big gradient. The clearest example I can see is her arm. One side of it is one color, the other side is a darker color, and the rest is a smooth transition between the two. Most objects in the real world under normal lighting don't have transitions from light to dark that are that simple. This gives the whole page a cartoonish look, like her arm is totally smooth with no bumps. On the current page you can see a clear line between the light and shadow which is more like real world cylinders. Admittedly on that older page she was in sunlight where the effect is less pronounced, but if you look closely at your own arm you should still see the effect if you look closely. If you really want to see it happen, turn on a lamp and hold your arm to the light, half of it will be lit more than the other. If you hold the edge of a peice of paper up to that line you can see it's not perfectly straight. This shows that her arm is not a perfect cylinder, and where her muscles and bones protrude out there is a curve making the shadow thicker, once again closer to real life. Lastly, different parts of her arm are different colors, orange, off white, red, purple, pink, and everything in between, just like real caucasian skin. I say this is a change in style rather than just improving because Tom would have had to experiment with different techniques to realize that this made the whole thing more realistic.

The cables between Kat's pinging locator device and the enclosure are fairly short. That implies that Annie intends to bring the arrow to the surface. It makes more sense to me for Kat to lower the enclosure to the bottom of the river so Annie doesn't have to move the arrow as far, but I didn't see large coils of cables in the raft.

Seeing how sharp Coyote's tooth is, I wonder how deep the river goes. Being pedantic, but I'm re-listening to Tom's retrospective series, and he did it with his claw. Are the properties of his claw and tooth the same? Could you point out what you're referring to? I see little difference (not to say his style hasn't improved). Compare with gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1465. Notice how previously all the shading was one big gradient. The clearest example I can see is her arm. I say this is a change in style rather than just improving because Tom would have had to experiment with different techniques to realize that this made the whole thing more realistic. Thanks for the explanation. He did hard(er) shadows in the ether before 1465: here. Even in later pages in the chapter you refer to, shadows are harder and less gradient... ted. More recently, here with the wisp (which gives off an obvious and definitive light source). But yes, this latest page is by far the hardest shadows (which is interesting, considering the light sources are arguably softer under water). I guess I just take issue with the word "style." I feel like it's a catch-all word that people use to refer to art, when saying he's slightly changed the way he handles shadows would be more accurate (IMO). But in that case I'm just arguing semantics, don't mind me. Apparently I'm just in a pedantic mood.

Forest boy is gonna still be alive, trapped in Undeath by the arrow Kinda like Will Turner's dad, now that I think of it It's funny that you phrased it like that, because I just finished re-reading The Old Kingdom Trilogy (by Garth Nyx) in which the primary form of magic is necromancy and death/undeath/purgatory is represented by a river (or several rivers, it's kinda janky). Throughout the course of the story several characters "journey into death" or are "trapped in death" and it's not entirely unlike the aether. Oh, and you can bind the bodies/souls of the recently deceased to make undead servants, too. Now we just need to get Antimony a set of bells...

Are the properties of his claw and tooth the same? I was referring more to what degree Coyote's "adjectives" are expressed in reality. He gave his tooth to Annie thinking "My tooth is sharp", and it is sharp. If he made the river thinking "This should be deep", then how deep is it? Deep or deep?
