So, they decided against the giggle blade, probably because it's to noisy. Ooh! I just realised that Kat is in the forest! Jeanne is usually on the court's side of the river, isn't she?

Some stray thoughts: This is the first time we see our protagonists being physically present on Jeanne's side of the river. In Broken Glass and other things Annie, Red, Red's friend, Shadow 2 and Kat were on the other side, and Jeanne only crossed in the ether. In The coward heart Annie and Parley visited on Jeanne's side in the ether. Kat seems to have some computer in her lap; I think that is a tracking device. How on earth is Parley's sword attached to her? It seems we created threads simultaneously. Since this is the thread people have started posting in it is probably most convenient to ignore your thread, despite you posting first. Sorry about that.

I guess nothing can go wrong with Andrew so close. Techinically, isn't it nothing can go disorderly with Andrew so close? "Wrong" may be the incorrect qualifier. Also, can we just take this into perspective quickly? Here with have a group of school kids who learnt about a vicious, merciless killer, who has never lost a fight, including against incarnations of DEATH, and they're putting their lives on the line to help the very creature who, if they screw up, would chop them up into little itty-bitty pieces. Why? Because that's what they do.

The plot thickens. But oh, more questions arise.
How were they able to leave school grounds without the alarm going off?
Where did they find the means to get a boat and actually get it down to the river? Probably it has an anti-grav-watchamacallit underneath.
How were they able to get to the river side without Jeanne having a fit before they could inceptionize her?
What is that in Kat's lap?
And where are all the slashed camera bots?
I hope, the tic-tocs won't interfere.

Also *bip* You're right, they have. But as far as I can tell, any shenanigans going on at night always were on court grounds. The moment, Annie left the school ground physically without any allowance from the court, the alarm went off. Very likely. So it is an etheric power extender combined with an arrow dismantler. Sounds like something coming from Kat alright

The moment, Annie left the school ground physically without any allowance from the court, the alarm went off. I always thought the alarm was related to unauthorized access to the bridge (the alarm goes off when Annie's foot touches the ground down the steps) and not related to students leaving any allowed perimeter. Also, no ether-vision renaissance Kat, it seems The device on Kat's lap looks like an old printing calculator.

Miniaturization? So it is an etheric power extender combined with an arrow dismantler. Sounds like something coming from Kat alright It would probably be simpler to freeze everything within two meters of the arrow, drag the mini-iceberg out and deal with it in a more accessible place.

I hope, the tic-tocs won't interfere. I|m glad I'm not the only one who likes listing questions whenever the story takes a new turn! Concerning the whole "How did they get down, without alarm or Jeanne cutting them up?" I imagine the scene as follows: 1) Kat manages to block any surveillance signals (with something like those anti-bugs that Jack made), so the alarm doesn't go off. (Or the alarm really is connected to the bridge and they just don't touch it.) 2) Everything is prepared above the ravine, including the boat and everyone's position. 3) Blue starts the illusion remotely, hence the first scenes of Jeanne without any of our heroes present. 4) Parley bips everybody down (maybe even in one go without touching anyone, because her powers are stronger now?) 5) Parley, Annie and Red now also enter the etheric illusion. (Maybe Red and Annie went earlier, but I imagine Parley has to be conciuos to bip everyone before she could join them.) 6) Here we are! Question: Why is Annie sitting in the boat with Kat? Is she going to leave the illusion once she's made sure everything is going fine? I think they have to go to the middle of the river in order to access the arrow. This is going to be fun! Edit: Kat's face is priceless, this is the first time she's seeing Jeanne for herself. I'm gonna have to include that in my little gif of Kat's changing hairstyles.

Wait. Parley can go into the ether but Andrew can't? She was only able to before because she was touching Annie if I remember correctly.

Interesting, this group is made up of individuals who have had some contact with Jeanne, or the river bank. Annie, Kat, Red and Blue were all there back in Broken Glass and Other Things. Parley got an eye full of Jeanne in The Coward Heart. While Andrew hasn't been down there he is also connected to these events through the blinker stone caper during The Coward Heart. His gift for bring enabling a fortunate outcome is indespencible. For a while there I thought Zimmy and Gamma would be involved in any attempt to help Jeanne but this group is a much better choice.
Even though it is an illusion this might be the first pleasant day Jeanne has had in maybe a couple of centuries.

Well, this can't go wrong. Completely OSHA compliant.
I imagine the boat is for going closer to the arrow, which is very exciting, but brings up an old point again. Who's to say freeing Jeanne isn't a terribly negative thing for everyone? I'm not talking about Court/Forest politics, or humane psychopomp duties. Her spirit has been down there a long time. If freed she may not decide to "pass on", but instead seek bloody bloody murder. Not for malice or revenge, but just to release centuries of built-up angst and anger. Just because that IS what she is, after all this time. So...

Strange, I've seen that boat before. tiberius, that means the gang probably snatched it from somewhere in the Court, perhaps from that same lakeshore. Edit: There's a distinct lack of oars in the current page, though, supporting the assumption that they did not row down the Annan Waters. Whatever contraption is attached to the boat behind Kat's back wasn't present in Spring Heeled, either. Of course, it could just be a motor... Regarding Parley and her sword ( bedinsis), it seems to be held in place by a strap halfway to her knee and she's idly touching the sheath near the hilt, rather than actually holding it. What's the matter with Smitty's pose? Did Annie specifically instruct him so as to adjust his hand-strings, perhaps? I like how mask-like Parley's face looks due to Jeanne's radiance.

Having two mediums and the Court's protector with you helps keeping alarms off, probably.
Also, someone has to control the boat.

Just because that IS what she is, after all this time. So... Releasing Jeanne will probably have repercussions of some kind but her being stuck after death at the Annan Waters is an unnatural situation. She needs to be released and allowed to move on. We also have been told that the guiding of people into the afterlife is what keeps the world spinning. Having Jeanne trapped here has kept something besides Jeanne from moving forward. It is past time for that to change.

Huh, I wonder, what will happen to Annie's scar once Jeanne is gone? Will it simply disappear or will it instead manifest itself in the physical world? Maybe it'll just stay as it is...

Not sure what happened off-panel but if I were them I might try approaching from the Woods side with as few people as necessary to trap Jeanne and make sure she was trapped before bipping the rest of the party in. That engine on the raft looks to be one of the easily-portable ones, so with the raft deflated it would be a cinch to carry. Oars would be quiet but you can turn that engine to steer... Or perhaps the engine is electric and ultra-quiet. There is the problem of the Woods-side cliff but if you can teleport and/or levitate things that's not really a big problem.

Yes, but if I were her, I'd save it as a last-second-friend-saving distraction. Also, Coyote being Coyote, Annie'd tought it would not work against Jeanne, just for laughs.
