Jeanne scored some pretty decent digs in her day.
...although I wouldn't have liked her heating bills!

It makes some sense that she'd live in the same residence as Eggers. There seems to be some parallels in the roles held in ye olde times, GKC and GKC: The New Generation
Protectors (sword, strength): Sir Young (and Jeanne??) -> Mr Thorn -> Eggers -> Parley Archery (bow & arrow): Steadman -> ? -> ? -> Janet (+ William?) Robots (robots): Diego -> ? -> ? -> Kat Artillery (GUNNER's CRAG): Artilleryman -> ? -> ? -> ? Court medium: Did not exist -> ? -> Surma -> Smitty Forest medium: Did not exist -> ?Ysengrin -> ?Ysengrin -> Annie

I get an overwhelming sense of melancholy from these pages. If this is the Court - and in the absence of any further information, I think it is - there was so much beauty and harmony lost when they went to war with the Forest. I want to know more about what happened, and why this peace was broken (in less general terms than "humans are selfish and wanted more").

Still looks like Birmingham, particularly St. Albans... Zimmy's psychic dystopian Birmingham can't be entirely coincidental. I wonder what the connection is.

Everything's so pretty and calm in these pages that I can't help but feel that stuff's gonna get twisted and ugly soon.

I don't think we're in the Court at all. The architecture is designed and passion went into it - a distinctly un-Courtlike feature. People are dressed casually, loving animals - loving nature. There's what appears to be what I'm taking for a particularly resplendent cathedral in the background. Could this be before Jeanne came?

As long as animals and humans lived in harmony everything the Seed made was beautiful (although slightly anachronistic and looking like a green version of Birmingham). Then the Divide came, animals and trees disappeared from the Court, and everything growing from the Seed became crummy (looking more like Birmingham as Tom sees it).

Didn't Jeanne complain that they were cutting down all the trees in the court? So this could be before then, when she was happier.

Still looks like Birmingham, particularly St. Albans... Zimmy's psychic dystopian Birmingham can't be entirely coincidental. I wonder what the connection is. I'd say that the connection is simply that Tom is using familiar locales for reference in this comic. He's pointed a lot of locations based on real world in the YouTube videos that he put in just because. That is Jeanne in these flashbacks, isn't it? I'd say that this was before the Court was officially formed as a separate entity, when its founders-to-come were still living in the Forest in harmony with its residents, before their worldviews slipped apart and before the Coyote had moved in.

Still looks like Birmingham, particularly St. Albans... Zimmy's psychic dystopian Birmingham can't be entirely coincidental. I wonder what the connection is. I think the only connection is that Tom lives there and uses it's architecture as references for his comic. If there is anything else connecting the Court to Zimmy's mind-dimension we haven't seen any hints for that. As others have stated before: the Court used to be a place with humans and forest creatures living in peace. If you look closely, in this page and the first one, some of the people in the background look like the tree elves from Gillitie (spiky hair, different clothing). edit: Lightice, you have beaten me in this game of ninjas... By the end of this chapter, the periods in the thread titles will be wrapping to a second line.... Edit / Ninja'd by fish In the last panel, the child sitting with the dog seems to have pointy ears and hair that goes up.

This is a time and place of beauty and grace. If this is Jeanne she is comfortable with a sword and in a gown at this point in the story. We are going to see what happened.

In the last panel, the large building in the distance looks somewhat like the reception hall where the Court hosts Coyote.

I wonder, did Tom had a specific music (song or type) to go with these images? What is the soundtrack of young Jeanne's life? Perhaps, it's the absence of dialog, mixed with the slice-of-life images, that makes me wonder.

And the question is...
JohnnyB
Is that Reynard in the last panel? 21 Jul 2016 | 3:14 AM

A lot of video games have good soundtracks, depending on your taste in music. I've never actually played Ori and the Blind Forest, it just comes up in my recommendations occasionally.
