About time.

So the obvious implication is that their mission is successful, since that looks like Jeanne being taken through the doors of death*. But I doubt it will be that simple... The smaller chapter icon seems to show some kind of flashback. *Much like when Annie acted as the Guide for her mother, though I can't find the page at the moment.

I think this is rather the begin of something big than the end. Don't be a hero if you don't know the full consistence off what your doing.

This may indeed be the beginning of the end for the Jeanne arc - or it could lead to a shift in that arc's direction... I'm on the edge of my seat.

Looks like this chapter will be black and white.*
*With little splashes of red.

Nothing to see here! Move along! Certainly not a vengeful ghost with wicked sword skillz and a grudge spanning ages. Nope. I am not sure we have thought this through... if Jeanne moves to greener pastures, then the protection against the forest is gone, yes? Also why knowing about the rainbow threads and the super sharp Coyote tooth got me worried?

The smaller chapter icon seems to show some kind of flashback. That was my thought exactly. 530You beat me to it, keef. Thanks! :-D My two cents in the wild speculation area are spent on three theories: one is about the preview image. Zooming in, it seems as if the left person's hair is a light blonde. A good hint on Jeanne. So, maybe the result will be her departure into the ether. However, I am with Daedalus. It won't be that simple. So, my best hopes are that it is either Antimony on the left, or one of the psychopomps or Jeanne's Boyfriend welcoming her in the afterlife. the second one is a real sad one: What if one of the group is sacrificing themselve to guide her the way after the Steadman's Arrow is shut down? Even though, this seems unlikely, given that also the left person on the image doesn't have short or dark hair. And number three is along the lines of a flashback, too. Maybe based on a story Surma told Antimony of how she and somebody else helped in the past. Or a memory of Jeanne? However, I don't really think another flashback would be the central theme of the chapter. As with Morty, nearing the ether, ghosts seem to get their own self back. So, the chapter title image might be Jeanne calming down and talking to the lot. With the final result being her agreement to what went wrong and that it is time for her to (let) go.

End of an arc, maybe, definitely not the end of the comic. This is just one of many dangling plotlines waiting to be resolved, and a potential producer of entirely new challenges.

Oh shit! For reference, the last chapter that was about Jeanne was Chapter 46, and the last chapter where we actaully learned more about her situation was Chapter 30, a whole whopping 29 chapters ago. I think it's kinda weird that they still haven't found out more about Steadman or that green arrow thing. It doesn't fell like they are quite prepared enough yet to actually know how to free her. Unless finding out what that thing is is what they're gonna do now?

Let's take a moment to appreciate the fact that this chapter has been built up to for a DECADE! I don't know much about traditional comics, but I'd wager a bet that you'd be hard pressed to find a lot that are THIS patient with developing a major story arc. Independent webcomics for the win!

this better not be the end, Tom! I can't see it ending here. Sure, the Jeanne plotline might be the longest-running arc in the comic, but there are still plenty of other unanswered questions, such as: how was the Court created? what is the purpose of the Omega Device? and when will Renard and Ysengrin finally kiss?!?!

Exactly how long have we been waiting for the Jeanne resolution? She was introduced to the story in the third or fourth chapter, I think. But the actual mystery started, depending on your POV, with the gang finding Diego's room, or when they reached and fought her through the blinker stone. How many irl years has it been?

I would consider the page where Annie recognised her on her portrait as the point where things started to come together. If I'm not mistaken that page was released around July 2008 - almost exactly 8 years ago! Edit: Or maybe where Annie was for the first time considering she was supposed to help Jeanne one chapter earlier. That would've been about February 2008. In any case, it's been a long time coming!

I think we can all agree Jeanne had been waiting a long time even before Annie and crew showed up. She has been very patient.

All I can do is go HOH BOY and reminiscence about the distant past (practically ancient history in internet-time, really) of Gunnerkrigg Court. Not enough info to really put my chips on the table as to what will happen, but here's hoping Parley's training with her personal fencing style and the time spent in protector-bootcamp will not only help Annie in guiding Jeanne, but will do so in an awesome manner. Speaking of Annie... very curious how she'll manage this. I hope there won't be a huge price to pay for Jeanne's peace. I don't know much about traditional comics, but I'd wager a bet that you'd be hard pressed to find a lot that are THIS patient with developing a major story arc. Well, in Berserk the main cast spent seven real life years on a boat... I was a boy when I started Berserk. Now I am a man, and this is no metaphor. Also, just compare the manga or even just the old anime to the current animation. I'm pretty sure the fates are torturing us Berserk fans.

Just went back and was rereading Mort's chapter (and tearing up all over again). God that chapter's beautiful. If you don't read chunks of the comic compulsively every few months like I do, reread chapters 46 and 47. Semi-unrelated, but I hope someone doesn't die. So what's the plan guys?

OH man! Hopefully this isn't one of those one-page chapters where Annie just asks Jeanne nicely to knock it off already. Looks like it's time to binge again before Friday's update!

how was the Court created? With the help of some underpaid carpenters and bricklayers. what is the purpose of the Omega Device? Making the world's greatest muffins. and when will Renard and Ysengrin finally kiss?!?! Already happened. Off panel. We really should respect their right to privacy. On topic, I wonder what their plan is. They don't know the exact location of the arrow and Parley could only distract Jeanne; going face-to-face would kill her. I suspect we'll find out how they'll counteract this(and other possible hiccups) in the first pages of the next chapter.
