You fool! Kind of, you know, thoughtless as Annie is undergoing emotional trauma. But whatever.

So - Winsbury: Not a jerk. Janet: a little bit of a jerk.
Both of them: Very very sorry.

So, this was what we thought it was.
Also, "in to" --> "into"

So - Winsbury: Not a jerk. Janet: a little bit of a jerk. Yeah, a bit of jerk, a bit of an idiot. I mean, who pushes their own boyfriend into dating another girl?
I wonder why she did it? Was she maybe a little jealous of William's respect for Annie, and teasing in retaliation? Or did she kind of subconsciously want William to take that opportunity and go public about their relationship?

You fool! Kind of, you know, thoughtless as Annie is undergoing emotional trauma. But whatever. Bear in mind that none of them really know what's been going on with Annie. Not even Kat, who probably thought it would be a good way to get Annie out of herself (as opposed to the bad way of being out of herself that she currently is.)

They should have asked Mort what happens to people who put Annie on the spot romantically. And she won't be able to call in another favour with Muut to help smooth things over if she has another episode. Maybe Anthony would deliver the card instead?

End of the discussion in a few pages : Annie, laughing out loud.

I like the variety of extreme facial expressions on this page. But I thought that the older Court kids (the year Annie should be in) didn't have to wear uniforms anymore?
edit: I just remembered that Smitty is two years above Annie. I misremembered their age difference as only a year. The uniforms make sense for one more year then.

Maybe Anthony would deliver the card instead? Ya know, I do regret that we won't see Tony and Rey lamenting Annie's choice of boyfriend together with a bottle of rum.

Janet and Will have always had that dynamic- they pretend not to like each other and rile each other up teasingly. I guess in this case, this is how it started, with Janet doing the usual playful teasing thing, but then it escalated and she continued just to save face with Kat and Paz.

They should have asked Mort what happens to people who put Annie on the spot romantically. I'm pretty sure they have a general idea of how far and fast her mood swings can extend. After all, they have seen that lane 8 pages ago. And she won't be able to call in another favour with Muut to help smooth things over if she has another episode. Maybe Anthony would deliver the card instead? That would be a worthy replacement for the previous delivery team. Yeah, a bit of jerk, a bit of an idiot. I mean, who pushes their own boyfriend into dating another girl?

Yes, but also she can't stand the nonsense. That's another subject on which Mort could testify if he still was around.

Probably in response to Will.I.Am not 'manning up' and admitting that he was dating her. A jealousy power play due to insecurity (common in adolescence). I've seen people do it. I've probably done it/had people do it to me. Not something I'm especially proud of :/

Will.I.Am not 'manning up' and admitting that he was dating her. I think that is agreed on strategy in this case because otherwise big risk her Dad would stop them from dating till she was "of age". In such a case the girl may consider it more "manning up" to hide the romance. Her dad is "headmaster", potentially #1 person in entire court with likely power to assign someone especially daughter to a different class and the court tracks location of all students using their food and we have hints from more reliable sources than teens that would likely be big trouble if he knew they were dating.

I thought she was in her last year before summer break already, but you're right. She should be in upper sixth form now.

The last panel reminds me of panel 3 of this page. I like that both Annie and Kat likes the thought of the other getting in a relationship.

Wait, knowing what would happen to Annie if she got pregnant (I assume at least Kat knows), they still wanted to hook Annie and Will up?

So, Winsbury, your friends pressure you into asking out a girl you don't actually want to ask out and you end up doing it anyway? What are you, like, fifteen? Oh... Right...

Huh. Maybe we have narrative vision, thus making the Will/Janet relationship obvious. Because it really seems obvious. I'm half expecting it all to be a plot to get them to come clean, but I can't see that working if Annie wasn't in on it.

I wonder if Kat feels bad about Annie not having a boyfriend/girlfriend now that she's dating someone and spending less time with her. Annie was always alone but now she's pretty much isolated - if a seemingly single friend kept asking about my other super isolated best friend in need of moral support, I would probably try to pair the two if I was fifteen. I don't know what Annie will get out of this whole story tho. Maybe that if people keep secrets and don't communicate then catastrophe awaits? Or at least a good laugh. Janet's still being a total dick, though. A little prank on Will, no problems, but to use Annie as a means to that prank while she's completely unaware of it and already isolated from all her friends is dickery. Fortunately she seems to have remained unaware of what Will was doing all the way until they explained it to her. Imagine if she actually had fell for Will. ...Or did she kind of subconsciously want William to take that opportunity and go public about their relationship? Why do you think it's Will and not Janet who needs to keep it secret?

I bet that Annie is going to be really mad and light everything on fire, and then get into a lot more trouble.

I would dearly love to see William tell Annie that what he said about missing her is true even though he and Janet are together. Annie could use some affirmation that she has friends who really do miss her. This may be more than anyone should expect from a fifteen year old boy, but it would be nice to see.

...Or did she kind of subconsciously want William to take that opportunity and go public about their relationship? Why do you think it's Will and not Janet who needs to keep it secret? I don't. Like everyone else, I'm assuming the secret has to do with Janet's father. But there can be a gap between what you need to do and what you wish for. Even Janet could become tired of a secret she has kept for years. What she did (needling her own boyfriend into asking someone else out) was irrational. So I'm looking for emotional triggers that could have pushed her to do it. But there may be no other reason than getting trapped in the situation and not managing to back out in the instant it's happening.
