...Certainly no competition getting the first post up.
I think Robot's new data may turn out to be 'Ouch!'

Is that a typo in the last panel? "make a log of IF". It looks like an f to me.

Well, the sound hyperefficient, state-of-the-art, experimental biomechanical limb makes... is SPLAP! That one small splap for man... woman... girl... and robot of not clearly determinate gender...

Well damn, he's already a better dancer than me. If the robots only have, say, proprioception and external sensors to help them manipulate things, a full sense of touch could be the latest addition to the robo-religion.

There is a reason babies are small and weak: otherwise, they'd beat themselves up while they learned to control their limbs.
(Well, OK, they're also small so Mommy can squeeze them out through her pelvis. Very little in biology has a single "reason", which is a big difference from engineering.)

I think the log will be that Robot understands slapstick.

"Ms" Kat?

I don't think Robot calls her 'Angel' or 'Creator' to her face. In fact, the latter form of address would probably raise Kat's hackles after the 'shipping incident'. Robot is nothing if not diplomatic. Still, for comparison, I'm trying to recall the last time Robot did address Kat directly.

Someone needed to, and I'm too fond of mine (as well as the 14 other avatars of frog guy I made).

Honestly, I'm trying to recall, but I'm having trouble even thinking of many Kat/Robot interactions of late. The last few chapters have been rather Anniecentric (or else focusing on Kaz/Pat), and even in most of the instances where Robot does appear, he hasn't had many conversations with Kat of late that we've seen on screen. This is probably the most one on one dialogue we've gotten between the two in a while. From what I can recall- The infamous "Torn Sea" panel, in which Kat wasn't present. From "Thread", once again, no Kat present. The last chapter before that where the two were both in for an extended amount of time (insofar as I can tell) is "Changes", and I can't really find a panel where he addresses her directly. I'm not even sure what the last interaction was before that.

Guys... the season of Advent (expectation and waiting for Christ) began on Sunday the 29th. And Christmas is a Friday this year. We know Tom draws these months in advance, and that he makes page counts line up with certain goals, which occasionally include the date. I think something big is nine strips away...

Error: 9002, Severity: 23, State: ? The log file for database 'existence' is full. Any second now....
I am curious about the log results. Of course, what exactly did the logs show, that the "Love Boat" had. It had a significant etheric presence. Such a log file would be interesting to all parties.

That's actually amazingly fast. Consider how long it takes a human infant to learn to make similar movements.

" Kat" back in Sky Watcher chapter 18, also "Kat"start of "angel"And for what its worth, seems "Miss Kat" is the name that the other robots generally use.

I wonder how the log can be accessed. Via FTP-connection? XMODEM datadump over serial connection? Uploaded to FAT32-formatted USB-pen or CF-card? Printout via lineprinter? Printout via pencil? In a sugarcube? (Note, page after this the Separhs also call Kat both Angel and Creator.)

Unrequested automaton facepalm = new forum meme? It's new experimental data, too! Kat's journal: "Facepalm was demonstrated to be the most basic motor reflex for humanoid lifeforms."

I don't know why but Kat appears insensitive to Robot on this page. I would think Paz would be able to help him figure out how to take it slow. I fear that Kat will need the help of a doctor for Robot to learn how to move. I figure this chapter will have some Robot shenanigans and end on something cryptic.

At the moment Robot is tied to the laboratory setup. I'm reminded of when Kat left him partially disassembled while she went off to see Paz with the baby pigeon. (City Face?) Will she get distracted again? At least this time it's just four cables, but there's also the, er, care and feeding of bio-cybernetic appendages. Can they continue to function if disconnected?

That's what I meant, odd to go back from first name basis to Ms. Kat. I wonder if Kat noticed.

Where I am, "Miss Kat" wouldn't be out of the norm, and not necessarily as a sign of respect. It's just the thing you do. Just like you say "yes ma'am" or "no sir". I mean, I supposed it's a sign of respect in some ways, but when everyone does it and it's just a normal expectation of everyday speech patterns, it loses a "deep respect" connotation.

Robot might be glad she didn't include pain receptors in there, not that he'd know how to interpret said signals.
Also, wouldn't it have been easier to test with a simpler limb so that testing can be done on the signals and stuff and so that Robot can figure out the signals and data?

As the first step on they long path towards becoming like humans, the robots discovered the facepalm. How fitting.
