Do I smell something's about to be burning?
Annie might be getting her act together, but I don't think she's re-attained her usual zen-like state yet.

The title page and chapter icon seem much too straightforward. I suspect Tom is tricking us into thinking this chapter will be about returning Reynardine to Annie, while it will actually be about a personal struggle in the life of our dear hero Boxbot.

I do notice that Rey is shown in his wolf body, with Creator's Mark

Do I smell something's about to be burning? Annie might be getting her act together, but I don't think she's re-attained her usual zen-like state yet. This chapter is quite likely to be intensely unpleasant in all the best ways. 1) Fire Girl with some extreme recent irresponsibility vs. Ice King impossibly wanting to keep her from all possible harm (Court, Forest, Renard, and otherwise) 2) We've never seen how anyone other than Renard has handled the whole "body-leaping murder" thing. Especially Surma. Instead, we merely know that the fallout of all that "body-leaping murder" back in the day was Surma and Tony leaving the Court absolutely forever. Any argument regarding Renard will involve some serious not-yet-aired interpersonal-ugly getting directly aired. 3) And the microsecond anything is done to Renard, he has permission to do anything to protect himself. Up to and definitely including yet more "body-leaping murder", since his present owner attached zero conditions to his behavior. This is going to be Gooooood

This title page feels like it's gonna be the big confrontation between Annie and Tony, like it's the thing that the previous four chapters have all led up to.

Yeesss!! It's about time we see some action! And it's good to see that look of determination on Annie's face. She's got her fire back!

Although the first thing that came to my mind was Annie breaking Renard out of Anthony's control (and a sudden urge to listen to Bon Jovi - Breakout), that would be a bit too simple, and I'm not even sure whether Renard's under Anthony's control. So what I'm wondering now is who/what is going to break out (of what)? Is Anthony going to dissapear again? Maybe, but he seems to have changed in some way. Is Annie going to run to the forest again? I guess we can discard this one, because she was already in the forest a couple of pages ago. Is Renard going to run away somewhere out of the Court? I doubt it. Is a war between the Court and the Forest going to break out? Not enough reasons for it to happen now, Coyote only pushed over a very little building. So the one remaining and obvious possibility is that, somehow like freeformline suggested, we're going to see in this chapter how a horde of rebellious Boxbots try to break out of the Court's repression and justified disdain. Just terrible.

The Chapter icon/thumbnail is Anthony's front door. EDIT: After a second look, the door knob is on the wrong side for Anthony or Eglamore's door (and Eglamore's door panels are different). The Donlan's door knob is on the same/left side and the panels are the same, but I don't see the Donlan's columns in the thumbnail. I guess I have to stick with my first reaction that it is Anthony's door, but it is going to bug me until it finally appears in the chapter. And my vote for the chapter: Annie will break out of her emotional dependency on her father by directly defying him in regards to Renard.

Instead, we merely know that the fallout of all that "body-leaping murder" back in the day was Surma and Tony leaving the Court absolutely forever. Any argument regarding Renard will involve some serious not-yet-aired interpersonal-ugly getting directly aired. Tony and Surma left because Surma was pregnant with Annie and Surma didn't want her to be born at the Court. Then they didn't go back because Surma knew she would slowly die after giving birth and she didn't want her friends to see her withering away. I don't think it really had anything to do with Renard, or at least it hasn't been stated. Although the first thing that came to my mind was Annie breaking Renard out of Anthony's control (and a sudden urge to listen to Bon Jovi - Breakout), that would be a bit too simple, and I'm not even sure whether Renard's under Anthony's control. So the one remaining and obvious possibility is that, somehow like freeformline suggested, we're going to see in this chapter how a horde of rebellious Boxbots try to break out of the Court's repression and justified disdain. Just terrible. We know that Renard is currently controlled by Kat, but Tony thinks he has control over him and has him physically at his house. Yes, Annie could just have Kat transfer ownership back to her, and probably will, but Tony will object when he finds out he never had ownership of Renard and when they try to take him back. So either way, there's going to be some kind of confrontation with Tony there.

Oooh! If Annie's going to do a proper heist she'll need a zanny team of experts. Hire Zimmy Zim Zims! She can be the charming rogue! And if there are any chase scenes she can take things in a WHOLE other direction.

I'm still holding out for the sort of calm, rational, if very determined negotiation that befits a medium.
Followed by rainbows and flowers and everyone getting spice drops.

In other news, probably not.

MY vote: Annie would concoct a plan to break into Tony's house (Bip Bip, anyone?) but will find that Tony a) has moved Renard to an undisclosed location and b) is already expecting them on his one armchair, a lot in the fashion of Gadget's Claw ... but what we must NEVER play down is the experience, tools and techniques to manipulate/control/ defend himself from the etheric powers that he has learned from his travels. So a Showdown between Annie and Tony is to be expected, for her to be rescued (may it be from harm, OR from the imminent danger of a uncontrolled FireAnnie to kill Tony) by a Renard that breaks his seal of submission to save her, releasing himself and being taken by the Court as an act of War. SOOO it may all be a Coyote's plot to release Renard, for the lulz.

I like to think he assumed it was the Court, swept the place for bugs, and then got really paranoid when he couldn't find any new bugs.

Who's to say the Court didn't replace the bugs? Constant vigilance is required at Gunner's Crag.
If Annie plans to get Renard back she might start with having a sit down with Kat. Annie could stand to have a long talk with a good friend about what she's experienced before visiting Anthony.
I don't think Annie is going to sneak around trying to get Renard back I think she's going to personally ask for him. This might lead to a flashback showing what happened between Renard, Surma, James and Anthony. There are many possibilities.
