NOW we see inspiring Ysengrin! But Annie looks awfully sad in the penultimate panel

LMAO. Also called it. Ysengrin intended to be a target for Annie's anger so she could finally let it out.

And Smitty knows when sh*t gets real and shields the kid.
Also: I love Ys. More and more.
Also: Flammable demigod, meet fire elemental. It takes brass balls to offer yourself as a target to a fire creature when you are mostly made of wood.

Ysengrin is definitely the "learn to swim by throwing you in the deep end" type. Though I gotta give him credit on insight here.

Here's hoping that Ysengrin lives through the next ten pages...
Annie is quite terrifying when her anger is fully unleashed.
And Ys is a man wolf in a wooden suit, which is not the place to be during an inferno.
But Ysengrin was willing to be harmed to help his friend. In his odd stubborn way, it's the most kind thing he could possibly do – since he's always seen himself as an "alpha" of sorts, and defined himself by his personal strength and rigidity, being willing to submit and take punishment for someone else's benefit is a huge gesture.
That, above all else, warms my heart.

We always knew (and so did she, if she thinks about it) that the blinker stone was just "training wheels".

This is why I love Ysengrin. Ysengrin is a better mentor than anyone really admits. I wonder if Coyote knew Ys would do this sort of thing to get full Annie back...

Beautiful art again. Ys is majestic. Sunglasses on for next page.

Ysengrin best father figure y/n? We've never seen any evidence suggesting it that I'm aware of, but Tom has said that both Ysengrin and Renard had powers of their own beyond those that Coyote granted them...So it's possible, but personally I see it as unlikely.

Ooh! Panel 4! I just realised Ysengrin knows a *lot* more about Tony than he's been letting on!

I like this chapter.

Just to say I love this chapter! I love Ysengrin. He is capable of being tender but he keeps that for those close to him. And he is willing to be burned to cinders in order to help those he cares about. I think that there are hidden depths to him. And I really, really like him so much. It's a good thing to have such friends. I wish Coyote would leave Ysengrin alone...
Now I need some Reynard pages and I will be able to leave the horrible previous chapters behind (well emotionaly horrible chapters, you know what I mean).
P.S. I know this is a comic and life lessons are not its goal, but I do have an Ysengrin in my life and Tom has got him, spot on.

Amazing update. It's nice that a character is saying something so directly about this situation.

I like this page, just seeing the swirls of orange and yellow as the fire rushes back into her from the hole where Annie has been hiding it...

I think Coyote has figured a lot out. I wonder whether he has detected the influence of whatever beings tricked Tony. If so has he recognized them? And I think he realizes that Tony does not truly see Annie and part though probably not all of the reason. So soon we will know why Annie has been so determined to not see her father's flaws. We can guess but we do not know why she tries so hard to see him as perfect when his imperfections are so blindingly obvious.

Let it go, let it go~
Did anyone else notice Ysengrin's mismatched eyes in the background of Panel 3? It disturbs me.
Edit: I just noticed how Annie is like the mirror of Elsa in terms of having opposite elemental powers as well.

Is the full page spread where Annie regains her hair in a glorious instantaneous FWOOSH of fire coming??? I sure hope it is, I've been waiting for it!

I wonder what visual affect that has on her ether self. I mean, her hair didn't suddenly spring out another two and a half feet, but maybe that only happens after the coming flames.
Also I wonder where Coyote is in all of this. He either knew it'd happen and is likely laughing his eyes out right now, ooor he'd be genuinely getting impatient at the holdup.
