Well, tell him what he doesn't get. Emotional wounds, abandonment issues and what not.

Man, Annie herself doesn't totally get it, and Ysengrin gets it even less! The guy from my sig gets it a bit more.
Hahahah, this page really made me laugh. Ysengrin and Tony, best buds! Similar parental philosophies, too!

Finally someone made the thread! [If I was sure of the formalities I'd do it myself] Go Ysengrin! She respects him and values his opinion. So they are working together in this conversation not against each other. On the 7th panel she is getting her mask on, but I bet you, he will not be impressed at all. I am kinda squeeing seeing this page. As an aside. Yep I've had these conversations with my pragmatic friend and damn if Tom wasn't eavsdropping on me. i will sue for copyright. *grins widely*

Not the reaction she was expecting. Now she doesn't know what role to play!

Aww, Ysengrin. I wouldn't have expected it, but here, he shows a lot of respect for Antimony. He doesn't understand what's happening, or why she's back to being a child now when she was so mature, but he tries.
And while he's not that good at communicating himself, he's right. These are actually not the reasons why Annie is angry - if her father treated her respectfully, and told her all these things without humiliating her, it might have hurt, but she wouldn't have been so desperate.

As I said, it would be hard to explain to Ysengrin. In the next page Annie is probably going to say the problem is that she have achieved quite a lot during her years at the court, and Tony doesn't appreciate this.

We haven't got to the isolation ward, or the ban on Forest Visits*, or the Reynard confiscation, or the dispassionate suddenness with which these edicts have been enacted...
But, yeah. It's telling that Annie's started by harping on the consequences to *her*.
*C'mon Ys. Surely Coyote's been keeping you in the loop? Unless... OK, *NOW* you get it!

...and I still think Darth Ysengrin is trying to bring Annie back over to the Dark Side. If he produces cookies, that'll clinch it.

Sigh. How inarticulate from a wolf's perspective. Instead of, "He made me take off my (smelly) makeup," try, "He made me remove my mother's face markings." And use "He tossed me down among the pups to humiliate me" instead of "he found out I was cheating and made me repeat a year."

Annie, you're a girl. An attractive girl. Of course you don't get why cheating is a reason for a father, or father figure, to be disappointed.
This is why we can't have female leaders.
...Why is everybody looking at me like that?

You just made me realize that this makes Annie quite unfit to be a medium. I mean, isn't that just what being a medium is ALL ABOUT?

Annie, come on. You don't impress anyone with your teen drama.
Either you stop it or you step it up. I dunno, threaten to cut your wrists or something.

You just made me realize that this makes Annie quite unfit to be a medium. I mean, isn't that just what being a medium is ALL ABOUT? For me it would be. Maybe not so much for other people. As I've gotten older I've figured out/managed to come to terms with the fact that not everyone approaches problem-solving the same way that I do. In fact, some people's methods even seem to defy common sense/logic/physics; through sheer force of will, spending additional resources (time/money/whatever) and years of experience at forcing square pegs into round holes they can just make their dismally sub-optimal plans somehow succeed. I'd like to think Antimony just doesn't have her head on straight where her father's concerned. Maybe it's more, maybe it's because she's a teen and she hasn't thought these things through in her own head and heard what they sound like out loud, so to speak. But maybe you're right and she has just been getting by on etheric charm and luck. Even if she never gets any better if she can still do that much consistently she can be a useful agent for the Court. "Better lucky than good," as they say. [Plot armor doesn't hurt either.] I dunno, threaten to cut your wrists or something. She's done enough cutting already. Frankly, I'm surprised that she can summon up this much drama with the fire or her anger or whatever it is stuck to the ceiling like a piece of chewed cinnamon bubble gum. Maybe she should have kept the anger and spat out the drama.

Maybe to Ysengrin, Annie cheating implies that she ate her academically-superior classmates in order to shift the bell-curve down and appear to be doing above average, at least to her father. I think. Disappointed Ysengrin is dissapointed.
