Just that simple, when a trickster god is involved!I do get the sense there was some more dialog we're missing here because Coyote thought it was boring and zoned out. What is this "important task"? And since she remembers, has she taken the first step to reuniting her two selves? Not the end of the chapter yet, and the Rubik's Cube hasn't shown up, so more revelations are to come!

What was it she had to do? Her duties as thethe forest medium? Arranging the meeting between the rabbit and her fairy friend?

It looks like Coyote can see the "silver cord" connecting Annie and her Fire. I do get the sense there was some more dialog we're missing here because Coyote thought it was boring and zoned out.\ He kept asking the Headmaster, if he had any snacks. Sadly, Johnny would not share. Insidious politics.

It looks like Coyote can see the "silver cord" connecting Annie and her Fire. Or she recalled the Fire Part of herself into herself?

Something about an...Omega Device? There were threats involved, I think? I was too busy yawning and laughing to pay attention, of course. It clearly wasn't very important since it didn't hold My interest! Nobody needs that silly "plot" nonsense when I'm around to entertain you!! *scoffs*I helpfully cut it out so you could see more pages involving My wonderful self! Which important promise did she make? The promise to help Jeanne? Or the promise about the bunny and its friend?

Koyote's tail is between Annie and Anthony. Anthony looks like he has been repulsed (is that even an english word?) by it. Also the crown seems to be the elemental part of Annie. Annie is still in two bits. Coyoyte seems overjoyed (eye poppingly so) to see the elemental part of Annie. Perhaps all he wants is that bit.

I'm wondering what that crown symbol means, and if it is related to the promise. Have we seen that symbol before? It seems vaguely familiar.

That's... that then? Just like that? Coyote fixes everything. At least, in his mind, he does.
On the upside, Anthony has had some kind of realisation, and Annie seems to be taking a step towards being whole again. But with Coyote being the narrator that he is, it's hard to tell exactly what happened.

According to this handy cheat sheet (http://gunnerkrigg.wikia.com/wiki/Symbols), the crown is a symbol of fire elementals. I also vaguely recall seeing it in the ether around Antimony previously. In the final panel, we see a "disconnect" between Antimony's body and her fire elemental self.

The Forest has its medium back but is there something more going on? Either Annie told her father about her duties or perhaps he has asked her something that triggers her rage (the link that coyote sees).
Although what happens when Fire head girl leaves and the glorious Coyote is left with the broken man.
"Hey wanna see how I create totems for animals?"
"No."
"That's what they all say before the mental scarring, then they open up afterwards."
also what's a Zipadoo?

While you're talking about the symbols, a small thing I just noticed: Anja's ward magic has an eye that is crossed out, blocking the view. Coyote's body is covered with eyes, trying to look everywhere. Nice parallel/contrast.

That's... that then? Just like that? Coyote fixes everything. At least, in his mind, he does. I wonder if this is really happening in the comic, or if this is just Coyote telling a story about how he'd like things to happen. The latter could explain both the much-too-quick resolution and the way in which it's being drawn.

There was way too much build-up to Annie's split for this to be the end of it (and indeed, I'm going with the people who say she's still split, even if the connection is starting to rebuild somewhat). Nor does this resolve any of our questions about what the Court's ultimate purpose was in hauling Anthony back in, including whose idea it was to bar her from the Forest - Anthony's or the Court's. My guess? She's not going to be able to put herself back together without help, and if that help comes from Coyote, it may come with a price. As for the important thing, I'm assuming it's reintroducing Rabbit Lad to Green. Meetings and Re-Meetings, and all that.

I'm wondering what that crown symbol means, and if it is related to the promise. Have we seen that symbol before? It seems vaguely familiar. This really bothers me. Come on, we are the guys who caught both Brinnie and the moon-girl red handed! Let's get this started, I'll provide some fodder. I'm fairly sure I've seen somewhere a stylized of crown associated with fire. With a very long moot I remembered: the stove hatch at my parents' place. I figured, a stylized fire could very well be mutated to a kind of crown, so I googled for way too long time for different British manufacturers of petrol lanterns, gas equipment, even matchboxes, but couldn't find anything. It's probably not something Tom has seen in a product label. Then I went to google for bare fire and crown. Searches were polluted with several masonry, flora and forest fire related results, but the general consensus seemed to be that yes, how cool, sometimes flames look like crowns but that's not the general association. Before I get into the obvious stuff, there was this one false lead, the most improbable of all: San Francisco city flag. Does the phoenix in it have a crown? Nope, the flames look kind of like it. Do phoenixes and crowns usually get associated together. Nope and nope, I got a bunch of very regrettable tattoo designs. Furthermore, phoenixes being very obvious near-analogy to Annie's current situation the possibility of phoenix symbolism has been investigated repeatedly and not found. Now to the obvious stuff: Most symbol lists of alchemy don't recognize it, one does say: The crown symbolizes the successful completion of an alchemical operation or the achievement of a magisterium. It also signifies chemical royalty or the perfection of a metal. Unlikely. Ms. Carver is hardly a Mary Sue. What about astrology? No crowns at all, they don't deal with the earthly matters we usually associate with crowns. Fine, fine. Let's see then everything what heraldity has to say: - Emblem of the sovereign state, a monarch's government. -Crowns are also often used as symbols of religious status or veneration. -A crown can be a charge in a coat of arms, or set upon the shield to signify the status of its owner. How very unuoriginal, heraldity you disappoint me. Whoop de doo. Fine, what did it say about religion, again? Unlikely, given Tom's conscious effort on keeping world religion symbolism out from the Gunnerverse. Very well: The crown is a symbol of royal authority, and is often used for Christ, the King of Kings. It may also be used as a "crown of life," the eternal reward of the faithful. And it is also associated with some martyrs. That said, the designs are somewhat similar probably because of trinity. Lukewarm at best. Muslims don't know it and eastern religions have the general "veneration". If I'd have to guess, it's a symbol Tom has made up. A crown of stylized fire, with the common associations we give for crown. After all, he made up the creator/Diego symbol too. Two strange girls, two strange and vague symbols to bother the readers.

(shrug) There's a weak association to the occasional Baroque use of a crown of stars to represent immortality (itself derived from Ovid's variation on the Greek myth of Ariadne), which may have inspired the use of a crown of candles in certain celebrations in Northern Europe. There are also extremely sporadic references to Yama wearing a crown of flames. He is the Hindu psychopomp and god of death, and the King of Hell in several other mythologies. Medea gave a burning crown to the princess Glauce to kill her in Greek mythology, which could parallel how Annie will fade away like her mother if she has a child? But as much as I'd like to run with the idea of immortality and death and rebirth and fire, I think Tom just made it up, honestly.
