They fear My great might, of course!Look at Me, advancing the plot, saving the day, mocking fools!!! Being around Me is totally safe, after all. I mean, how many times has Annie almost been killed in the forest? Maybe three, tops?

Coyote might say something that will devastate her dad. She'll be safer than you kept her mom! Buuuuuuuurn!
Coyote is all teeth here with the laughter. That's not making this any easier. Now, now! I'm just trying to be friendly and smile. Fire-Head Girl told me last summer that it would make me more "approachable". Bah! Like I need to be more approachable, already being so handsome. *posing*... And said, "How can she be safe when you get so angry?" So Coyote showed the Broken Man all of his razor sharp teeth. "Seems legit", he said. Coyote Diplomacy is the best diplomacy, amirite?? *manic laughter* The more teeth, the more convincing!

Kind of impressed with Tony. He's bucking both Coyote and the Lords of the Court.

Kind of impressed with Tony. He's bucking both Coyote and the Lords of the Court. Likewise. It really shows that even when sober, and despite his asshat-ery, he does actually care for his daughter. Unless he needs her undamaged for his necromancy to raise Surma from the dead... Being around Me is totally safe, after all. I mean, how many times has Annie almost been killed in the forest? For some reason, I saw a smirking Ysengrin with a smartphone in the background, playing the MLG horn sound.

I am amused by how fast the Court turned tail. Did they really underestimate the situation or are the playing some long game? Was Annie leaving the forest even their idea?
And I am impressed by the Broken Man, go Anthony!

I am amused by how fast the Court turned tail. Did they really underestimate the situation or are the playing some long game? I suspect they just didn't expect Coyote to care THIS much about losing his Medium. Rarely would Coyote get so angry over a mere human no longer entering his Forest. Annie really does tend to get along with etheric beings. I mean, of course Coyote has ulterior motives, but... ...it really is sweet that he considers her a friend, however he defines the term.
But don't be fooled by the soft and fuzzy exterior...

This page makes me think it was not the Court's idea to keep Annie out of the forest. And Tony has some brass balls. Clearly the master mind is secretly the old Box bot unit - It was there at the beginning, the end, and everything in between! On a serious note. I love this page. the fonts are slashed, tony's face is a cracked lego brick, coyote at the end looks like three pacmen. Does anyone know if Tom does this traditionally through paints or through digit means, cause my artistic side is nerding out.

Hail the Trickster God Who said the Court was safe? Who said Anthony was a safe man to have as a father? Who said being a fire elemental was safe? Who said fire was safe? Who said the ether was safe? Who said life was safe? When was safety ever a thing? How much safer is she with Coyote's protection than without it, hm?

How much safer is she with Coyote's protection than without it, hm? Or: "how safe do you think she is in this rabbit warren?" Oh don't get me started... There is an appropriate song about this, but can't remember.

The title of this chapter implies a meeting with the cut-off part of Annie. No one else knows about Annie's self-harm yet. I'm waiting to see how it gets revealed and what exactly she did.

If you think of it, Surma obviously visited the Forest a lot when she was the medium and she was fine.

"Do you think she's safe now? She ripped her soul in half to please you and now her life slips away just as Surma's did." I don't think Coyote is that well informed. Though given in what shape Annie is, does he need to be? This page makes me think it was not the Court's idea to keep Annie out of the forest. Whoo is mister Court? And Tony has some brass balls. And/or cast-iron head. As was noted in the previous thread, there's little left that could impress him much. Who said the Court was safe? Who said Anthony was a safe man to have as a father? Who said being a fire elemental was safe? Who said fire was safe? Who said the ether was safe? Who said life was safe? When was safety ever a thing? There is nothing that can't be dragged down by a downward spiral of Perfect Solutions! How much safer is she with Coyote's protection than without it, hm? Speaking of which. There's that "it's not her!" deal still hanging.

This page makes me think it was not the Court's idea to keep Annie out of the forest. Or the Court is willing to let Annie go as long as Reynard stays. If Reynard was the Court's primary concern, then they may have told Anthony that everything else is his discretion. My guess is that Anthony told the Court he has Reynard, but hasn't told anyone that Reynard isn't following his commands. The Court may think their previous existential crisis is under control and is willing to sacrifice Annie to avoid starting another existential crisis.

If you think of it, Surma obviously visited the Forest a lot when she was the medium and she was fine. She was firmly a Court agent though. She probably saw the Forest the same way everyone else there does: it's dangerous, they're bad, be on guard. Annie doesn't see them like that at all (that's how she sees the Court!). That's the danger she faces in the Forest (which we've seen, even if it was mainly Coyote's fault and not the fault of Annie trying to befriend people) Also, from Tony's point of view maybe Surma having anything to do with anything etheric is what killed her. Maybe if she didn't ever go there, maybe if she forgot that she was a fire elemental and put all of her faith and effort in medical science she never would have died so young. As if it's something she could have repressed like he represses his emotions (and we've seen Annie, who seems to have learnt how to deal with emotions at his knee, have a good go at it) Finally, he's now had personal dealings with etheric beings and it was an absolute disaster, way worse than he could have imagined (way worse than anything that's happened to Annie or Surma to our knowledge). He must think creatures like that are lurking right on the other side of the bridge to get Annie and that it's only a matter of time

I am amused by how fast the Court turned tail. Did they really underestimate the situation or are the playing some long game? I suspect they just didn't expect Coyote to care THIS much about losing his Medium. That, and they didn't know anything about one particular aspect that particularly infuriated Coyote: Annie's current cut off state. If it was just about her no longer coming to the forest, he might have stopped at just "irritated", but after seeing her emptied of her flame, well... If it was about my friend and I saw that she is badly hurt and on top of that she can't be allowed to see me anymore, I would be very concerned.

I am amused by how fast the Court turned tail. Did they really underestimate the situation or are the playing some long game? Probably the former. I suspect the Court hadn't taken into account Coyote's response at the time and are now realizing their oversight. And that they can't so easily reverse the situation.

He didn't seem to care that much about Surma but them Surma was the Court's Mediun, not Coyote's Medium. Coyote is very serious about his perogatives. Fire Head Girl is his friend and Medium and an honorary citizen of the Forest. Nobody messes with Coyote's people, that's his job.

...that means, maybe my theory is correct? Maybe Anthony overshot by 10 miles, by forbidding Annie from to visit the Forest. I can't decide if it's Antony's brass balls or if he knows what Coyote promised - that he won't hurt anyone on the court's side. Including Anthony.

All this reminds me of is Kat's response to Anthony's query about how safe Renard was. "You weren't even here!" Worrying about Annie's safety now rings more than a little hollow considering she had no idea where he was or even how to contact him while she was dealing with all manner of potentially unsafe creatures and situations. And hell, I'd think it'd be safer, if only in the short term, to be on Coyote's good side rather than his bad.
