Coyote is telling a story about how Annie makes him laugh. So he's not laughing now? Could be bad.

I spent a good long while puzzling over what appears to be a second set of limbs on that second depiction of Annie. But when I looked closer at Annie "entertaining" Coyote and how her hair melds into what must be flames, I'm guessing that's meant to be Etheric Annie AND normal Annie, with the two still connected.
Also loving how each panel, as they were, has a slightly different look to it.

This art style is great for Coyote's narrative.

Ysengrin looks like he has lost some of his left ear.

Oh this is cool. Is the whole chapter going to be like this? Telling a story of what happens next between Annie, Coyote, the court, Smitty, etc. We don't see them the entire chapter, just see the story told in this style.I love it!
EDIT: Also, new avatar

Tom probably had a time-limited license to use the fonts of the comic, which has now expired. From now on, he has to draw all the text by hand. I'm looking forward to hand-drawn ale and wenches speech balloons. Called it! Although it's not Ale and wenches, but the new font is nice as well.

Interesting; it appears that Annie is attractive not only to ghosts and guides, but even to more powerful and unpredictable beings of the etherium. A useful quality to have, perhaps, although drawing Coyote's attention is certainly not guaranteed to be a good thing... I hadn't really thought about it before, but it would be a little odd otherwise how quickly and how well she befriended both Coyote and Ysengrin (and even Renard, although he also had other reasons to care about her). The only person I can think of who seems to be immune is Jeanne...

Part of why may lie in how Antimony arrived and where she landed but etheric attractiveness is probably why she talked so long and maybe didn't fight as hard as she could have.

This story can only end well. Annie's attractiveness to etheric beings has been officially noted.Given what Jeanne usually does to visitors, I would say Annie's charms have some effect there, as well. Empathy is not attractiveness. She has a special ability to understand etheric beings, and to connect with them (since she says "empathy with", not "empathy for"). The Mort quote is interesting though.

I love this! The art is amazing! The animals on the bottom remind me very much of traditional greek embroidery designs. Annie's etheric hair that grow to a point when she is just Annie and not setting things on fire elemental. And the cartouse style boxes on important names. Great stuff. Have we discussed the crown on Annie's chest someplace?

In the final panel, the roots from the tree appear to stretch across to the left and sprout into a hand. It's also the only tree with branches that bend at 90 degrees rather than the curved arches of the other trees. I also wonder if the differently-colored tree outlines have any significance or are just done that way for variety.

I have no idea what the cute little crown on Annie's chest is meant to symbolize, but I like it!
Also, I can't help feeling the abstractions are a worrying sign of Coyote's thought processes, and I'm afraid to see how terrifying the cute art style is going to get when he gets to the parts that piss him off. D:

I have no idea what the cute little crown on Annie's chest is meant to symbolize, but I like it! It's appeared before. I think our best guess was that Antimony is "crowned by fire." Also, I can't help feeling the abstractions are a worrying sign of Coyote's thought processes, and I'm afraid to see how terrifying the cute art style is going to get when he gets to the parts that piss him off. D: It's like he's building a rationalization for something he's going to do, isn't it? Not that he needs one. I still think the important thing to Coyote is that he be included in the story somewhere.

What's that black thing edging the end of Annie's hair? It's even in the fire Annie depiction. A reference to Coyote's tooth maybe? But she isn't bound to him anymore, so any other guesses?

I just realized that Renard still has Coyote's tooth in his gut... This is probably a good thing since Fire Annie has no access to it right now.
