So, he blames himself, and was avoiding her out of shame?
Anyone else getting the feeling Tony came back because he thinks he found an answer?

Yeah. Understandable emotions... but pretty stupid and irresponsible decisions.
So, the psychopomps, now... I wonder what they told him. If they are the reason the guy tried remote surgery on his daughter I think I want a word with them.

Promises, promises. I wonder, which psychomop he found (or which found him), and how they helped with the "bone lasers"? Spill Tony. No one's listening but Donny... and Annie... her fire elemental side... all of us... That's it... So, you know, private. Keep talking.

Ha! Sweet vindication for those of us who've remained loyal to Team Tony. I look forward to all y'all scrabbling to find new and inventive ways to demonize a guilt-stricken man with probable PTSD.

I DON'T WANT TO LIKE HIM.
BUT HE SEEMS LIKE A GOOD GUY WITH PROBLEMS. D: T_T This explains why he tried to treat Annie with sterility, or at least part of the reason. He was probably afraid she'd lash out at him.

He does love them, both of them, I am so happy I am actually crying.
I really shouldn't be so emotionally involved in him, but it's inevitable.
Also that is a pretty haunted face on the last panel, what did you see on the other side of the veil Tony?

Fairly certain that this is going to end up with the guides telling him about the fire, and him misinterpreting that getting rid of the fire will suddenly make her able to have children without dying.
Rather, he probably unknowingly was killing his daughter, unaware of what the fire actually is (I assume he must think its a parasite).
This is going to be sad, isn't it?

Communication nightmare, episode 568. We'll get answers later but Tony now appears to be the perfect example on how you should /talk to people instead of having massive guilt trips and real world trips by yourself/, which confuses me a bit because on the other hand he's not just cold and awkward to Annie, he's mean. Annie has done nothing but smile and nod when he was there - Tony isn't Master of Reading People but he could "just" have acted distant, seeing that his daughter is obviously trying to be nice to him. Oh god, I don't think Anthony knows that Annie knows why Surma died? He's being a shit to make her hate him because he thinks she doesn't understand that he "killed her mother" and it would be easier for her to find that out about a father she already can't stand. No, self-loathing doesn't excuse abuse (neither does PTSD) but I'm getting a horrible suspicion that's what's going on here.

Oh Tony...
If you wanted to know about psychopomps, you have one right under your nose. If only you thought to actually talk to her.

There's almost nothing you can't do if you go batshit insane over it! ...with the obvious exceptions such as "act like you're normal".

Ha! Sweet vindication for those of us who've remained loyal to Team Tony. I look forward to all y'all scrabbling to find new and inventive ways to demonize a guilt-stricken man with probable PTSD. I'm still withholding judgement. It hasn't escaped my notice that what Anthony thinks/thought Antimony would want (re: not living with her mother's killer) just happened to be what was wanted by and probably easiest for Anthony (not returning to the Court, as per his wishes in his own words in the previous comic, and not having to deal with Antimony). Like I said the other day, nearly everyone on the planet thinks their reasons for doing the things they do, whatever they do, are golden... at least until the consequences of those things start wandering in. Let's see how Anthony reacts if Donny suggests Antimony would've wanted a father, or otherwise critiques his actions... or if he modifies his behavior based on learning more about Antimony as a person. What will Anthony actually do? That's more interesting to me than Anthony on Anthony.

What are the odds that Surma said something along the same lines to Tony about his guilt and Antimony? ("She will still love you")

Hmmm. He was hurt because he promised. He was sure Annie wouldn't want to live with him, cause he would have reacted the same. He decided. He left. He came back. He treated Annie like an ass. Dude are you listening to yourself speak? I am having strong doubts as to whether there was actual love in the relationship between Surma and Tony. He sounds more like a friend who promised to help out and failed to do so than a lover. Anyway, actions speak louder than words man. People are not projects. Talk to your kid and for once listen. meh... Annie will probably feel even more guilty now, that she hates her poor tormented daddy. It's how you treat other people when you're hurting that counts man. I am just going around in circles with this. </ranting>

Erm... I'll go with 'Because the stresses and guilt of an adult do not excuse the psychological abuse of a child' for $1000, Alex.
