Pretty sure Annie could "escape" any time she wanted to by walking out the door. No, Kat & co. has something far more insidious in mind: they are going to Find Out Stuff. I get the very sinister feeling that the thing Kat is "up to" will be the thing they've been up to all along, solving the mystery of divide. However, all too conspicuously, Annie suddenly thinks it's a bad idea to get involved. |

I get the very sinister feeling that the thing Kat is "up to" will be the thing they've been up to all along, solving the mystery of divide. However, all too conspicuously, Annie suddenly thinks it's a bad idea to get involved. I find it very unlikely that Kat would worry about Jeanne and the divide when several of her best friends are in that much trouble (let's not forget Renard). No, she is planning something that is going to make that chapter earn its title and I'm really happy about that. |

I think Anthony has control over Annie's time management, and would be furious if he found out that Annie went somewhere without his knowledge or approval. I don't think she's locked in physically, but, you know. I think you're right about Kat. That's her greatest weapon, and bringing all the stuff Anthony did and does to light... it could be way more destructive to Annie's image of her father than anything he does right now. |

Yup. And this may have been part of Kat's plan all along.  Parley is the only one of those Annie would let in and won't dismiss, who can be expected to plainly ask "what the hell is this?" right away. Peat, meet thermite. I get the very sinister feeling that the thing Kat is "up to" will be the thing they've been up to all along, solving the mystery of divide. However, all too conspicuously, Annie suddenly thinks it's a bad idea to get involved. Annie in her "eager to serve puppy" mode probably doesn't want to do something that doesn't directly go against the letter of Anthony's orders (probably because no one in right mind or anywhere within artillery range of it would think of such contingency without knowing something Kat does and Tony doesn't), but would obviously go against the spirit. And she can't refuse outright either because she sees another obligation there (which may be simply because they are her friends) or because after classes and Anthony's brief visit she feels like a wrung out rag and not in a good enough shape to argue seriously. |

They are taking Annie to get her hair done (what is left of it). That straight cut and straight comb just will not do for the Donlan's party. Anthony told Annie to make sure she was ready and he failed to restrict what getting ready means.
Two by the ways...
1. Parley and Smitty are also wearing clothing that indicates cool weather (Parley's turtleneck sweater at least). But we still don't know how much time has passed since Anthony's reappearance.
2. There is your door handle (and observation port). In the future Reynard's symbol will be drawn in excruciating detail.

I can't imagine that more than a few days have passed, because: the card makes more sense a short time after the event of Annie cutting her hair Anthony wouldn't wait weeks to test Rey's "cooperation" and start asking questions about it Kat is totally burning to DO something and I don't think she'd wait long to call the cavalry and let Smitty and Parley know about the situation and try to bring her parents in.
