Rachel Green sounds like a swell lass. Is there supposed to be some coy statement that Rachel is more robotic than any of the other cast members, and her name is therefore unchanged in Gunnerverse?

I was expecting a "stuck in second gear" joke. Oh well. I love how they didn't even bother to pun-up Rachel Green's name. It's as if, they got half way through, and said, "$@%3* it. They know who it's supposed to be."

I wonder if these robots are in Robot S13's cult.
I wonder if we will have the pleasure of their company often.

Her name is Rachel Green because her power source is environmentally friendly, obviously.

Oh lord, there's so many Friend-bots!
Also... was there no OTHER sitcom they could design most of these rooms around? I mean, EVERYONE has to live with Friend-bots?!

I was going to make a quip about the Court not understanding why there is a recurring Year 10 spike in student suicides. But it kind of makes sense that the Court would increase the chaperone-student ratio from 1-30 to 1-1 in an attempt to decrease Year 10 student suicides and preganancies. The Court can't keep the teenagers locked inside segregated aquatic habitats forever.

The male students will try to bang the girlbots, don't they? Oh lord, there's so many Friend-bots! Also... was there no OTHER sitcom they could design most of these rooms around? The Court can't keep the teenagers locked inside segregated aquatic habitats forever. Well, in addition to the sex issue, there is also the fact that, taking into account the kind of bizarre crap that is going in the Court all the time, soon or later the students will grow mature enough to start questioning it and suffer a gross existential crisis and smat enough to try to crack its secrets. It would make sense that past certain point they will either try to uncover the secrets of the Court or go mad, justifying the need of extra supervision.

The apartments on the western side are presumably reserved for students that the Court administration doesn't like. You want a bedroom? You get a bed in that room. There, that makes a bedroom. Lacedaemon is the perfect state.

I wonder if these robots are in Robot S13's cult. I wonder if we will have the pleasure of their company often. Yikes! That could get awkward, or "Rosemary's Baby"-like. Depending on their dedication. Now, I have the image of a building full of crazed Chandler and Joey bots. "Could we BE more scary. To Year One!"

There isn't any rule against relationships going the other way (that we know of). Ah, what a great way to prevent those teen pregnancies by getting your girl students harrassed by two goofy male robots. That should break any illusions and convince them to wait. "Rules against the other way" remind me of harry Potter, where girls could enter boys' sleeping chambers (dorms in muggle terminology) as they liked, but if boys tried to enter girls' chambers without a chaperone an alarm would sound. That was a spell cast by the old Gryffindor himself, clearly a very practical man.

Is this the first reference to robots who are gendered female? There's one robot here who looks female, but that one's no longer functioning. I always thought it was interesting that all the robots in Gunnerkrigg appeared male. It seems like they don't have any use for gender. But it makes sense that when the humans interact with the robots, they'd try to fit them into gender boxes and code them all as male. The Friends-bots could be exceptions, since the living arrangements aren't supposed to be co-ed.

Wow, robot RAs. Mega-lame breh. I wonder if they have marijuana sensors to bust kids smoking bones in the staircase. The stuff the Court puts in the food to track the students may also solve the drug problem. Just program those nano-bots to make the students violently nauseous whenever the nano-bots detect unauthorized drugs. Maybe the nano-bots could help with the teenage pregnancy problem too by detecting elevated hormones. Although in rare cases that might lead to emetophilia.

Wow, robot RAs. Mega-lame breh. I wonder if they have marijuana sensors to bust kids smoking bones in the staircase. Was it not also mentioned that the Court is less traditional in view than the rest of society? Maybe they don't care as much about recreational drug use, so long as it doesn't get in the way of your studies. I would certainly imagine throwing people into individual dorms without direct Court supervision constitutes more personal freedoms as both a student and as a Court citizen, in general. And let's not forget Annie isn't exactly a model of drug abstinence...Also, post 50 get!

Was it not also mentioned that the Court is less traditional in view than the rest of society? Maybe they don't care as much about recreational drug use, so long as it doesn't get in the way of your studies. This sounds about right, and it's interesting to think about. The basic philosophy on which Gunnerkrigg Court seems to operate, deep down, as a school, just as it operated on it during the time of its original purpose, is the Unetherial Tenet. The Etherial Tenet is 'It Just Works, Now Shut Up.' The Unetherial Tenet, on the other hand, is ' SCIENCE.' I like to imagine the Headmaster lounging in his chair, replying to questions about the court's stance on big issues, bored as hell because Science already knows the answers. "(sigh) Sexuallity. Is hormones. And brain chemicals. That's all. Why would we punish people for the chemicals that flow through them, or for the nature of the connections inside their skulls?" "I fully agree that experience-modifying substances can be dangerous and should be treated with care. I also believe that they should be understood, rather than treated as Universally Bad Things. That line of thinking has shown itself to be lazy, harmful and ineffective." What I love about this is that Coyote and the Forest probably have the same or similar stances on things found problematic by many people in mainstream society, but for entirely different reasons. "Love is a MAGICAL thing, unbeholden to your ways!" "Child of man, why do you distrust the fruits of nature? You need to cool the hatred that burns within you from the inside out! You need to chill out, man!"

I've wondered, in the back of my mind, if, instead of it being Coyote VS the Court, if the goal is the same and they're just taking different roads. Of course, then you gotta ask who's taking the one less travelled?

So the Phoebe and Ross-bots didn't make the cut at the court, eh?
Or maybe they just got their own spin-off in a different webcomic...
