That possesive hand-grip from Paz... or maybe Annie just wanted to be polite and leave the two to their obviously not intimate sofa-centered relationship.

Don't worry Renard, they're Friends!

Does that mean Renard is Chandler?

Sadly, yes. Characters from "Friends".

Is it me or is this the shortest chapter ever? There's more threads left loose than usual I think.

Well, Annie sure seems to have taken that well (going off her reaction in panel 5). Also, those bots are hilarious. XD Is it me or is this the shortest chapter ever? There's more threads left loose than usual I think. I noticed that too - I thought the chapter was still going until I suddenly noticed the end-of-chapter symbol. It's only been 20 pages, and that included a lot of traveling! Kinda odd.

And slowly, imperceptibly, Gunnerkrigg Court shifted to being a joke webcomic.
I don't say this often (or ever) about your work, Tom, but I'm disappointed in the brevity and lack of resolution in this chapter. It's missing something ineffable that makes Gunnerkrigg Court its wonderful self. I have the faith, however, that this is just setting up for future amazingness, and not a permanent new direction. Please let me be right...
...still a very clever joke with the 'sudoing' though, heh.

Yeah, could be that what happens next didn't split up well - maybe it's this short chapter and then a longer chapter?

Well it's more of a setup/break chapter after the extremely long previous one! giving us a humourous pause before the start of another probably story deep chapter.
Also Annie seems to be getting the hang of letting Kat have some totally-not-making-out-on-the-sofa time with her girlfriend rather than getting in the way.

Also, if there are now 6 of them living in the two apartments, do we have to start pairing them off with their Friends counterparts? The boys are obvious, girls less so.

Start-of-book chapers have never been very long, what are you talking bout, guys? Btw, what is Joey-bot saying? "How you sudoing?" Huh? I'm not getting the joke here

Sudo, in Unix/Linux systems, is the superuser/administrator account. Similar to Windows, you wanna do something that affects the system, you gotta be more powerful than a mere lowly user/standard account. It's more a pun than a joke in the " sudo make me a sandwich" vein.

Btw, what is Joey-bot saying? "How you sudoing?" Huh? I'm not getting the joke here Tom added an "su" to Joey's "How you doin?" quote. I assume the "sudo" is in reference to the Linux/Unix "superuser do" command/program.

That was a rather abrupt end.
Glad to see Annie kept her smile after she left, though.

Since I'm probably the last person left on the planet that's never seen any "Friends", this page is pretty much entirely lost on me. *shrug* I mean, those two 'bots are obviously referencing some other characters. But if I had to guess I'd say they're Ernie and Bert from Sesame Street...

Socially Awkward Annie has been really funny, but Annie's social awareness has significantly improved. Now I would say she's probably better than the average 14 or 15 year old girl.
I am certain that Annie knew Kat and Paz would need time alone once Paz came back. Annie just didn't know when that would happen. Maybe she will bake them a congradulatory cake!
And Reynard, if you couldn't continue living with Annie last year, then you certainly can't live in the love shack Annie finds herself in now.

Does this mean those two robots are students of the court?
(Also, chapter end already? Is all the plot going to go into the post-chapter-end-thingy?)

I didn't get the Friends references, but Tom's comment made me laugh. And the chapter end really threw me, too, even though I'd been expecting it for a while.

It's a fair point to wind down this chapter from delivering the rabbit to the Court.
I must confess the last frame throws me. The two robots aren't Court style robots, eye-wise. I get it's meant to be a Friends reference but, never having seen Friends, it's quite lost on me and I'm left on a jarring note.

It's more a pun than a joke in the " sudo make me a sandwich" vein. Strictly speaking sudo is a command to grant some limited power of the superuser to a standard account. I think it operates per file basis, and is thus a little smarter than would be just checking the first parameter it gets, but I really don't know. I'm not on a Ubuntu box so I just su when starting administering. Username is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported.

For a second, when I first saw the last panel, I thought it was Kramer-bot and Costanza-bot. I think that would have been funnier. I would have imagined, that the Court made these buildings, so robots can live out their sitcom fantasies.
