Oh yeah, that's one torn sea.I mean, how did Rey figure out it's there? Did the hole in the sea give it out? I love the fact that robots have a sort of navy of their own within the Court. Or have they maybe just stolen the Court personnel's boats?

I wonder if the kids are at the bottom of that or if they're elsewhere, like that chunk of ocean got taken to ZimCity. Huh, I had thought there was more overlap into reality.

Rey actually ended up leaving the court! Holy moley.
It seems to be in an official capacity, so hopefully he won't get into any sort of trouble over it.

I hope nobody expected that they would just show up and everything would be hunky-dory. They put a lot of effort into amplifying and controlling Zimmy's power. I'm surprised the tear is so clean though, I expected a lot more... leakage.
To elaborate: If Zimmy wasn't actually altering reality, this whole exercise would be pointless since the ship would return to normal once the Etheric Distortion ended. This time there's going to be real, lasting effects coming from this. It wouldn't surprise me if this messed with Zimmy's world as well as the real world.
This is assuming somebody doesn't manage to render everything that occurs in this chapter moot through some sort of wizardry.

Or the court knew the proposed route, so they followed that until they found something unusual? I also think that it's very plausible he was able to deduce that a hole in the sea that looks like a piece has cracked from it might be caused by some extreme Zimmying of reality around there. Yeah, you're right, how did they got to that are in the first place is another question.

It must be a chunk error. Maybe Rey should try relogging?

Rey actually ended up leaving the court! Holy moley. Well, maybe not. The boats are part of the court, and the robots he's leading are part of the court. So one could say he's taking the court with him.

Rey and his guild ready themselves for a 40-man raid in the Torn Sea instance. Everybody mana up and get ready to pop your CDs.

When was the last time we saw Lindsey? Been a while, kind of strange that she wouldn't have done something by now. Wonder what would happen if one or two of the links/siphons/whatever were to be destroyed, before being deactivated..

I'm surprised at the keenness of the robots to voyage over a vast sea of conductive fluid. The moment one of them goes overboard, things might get interesting.
They also like motor yachts, it seems.

There are lights at both ends of the tear. What might they be?

There are lights at both ends of the tear. What might they be? I believe that the lights are the "etheric siphons" that were used for some reason in page 1400 (I don't think that they've been explained, although people have made some reasonable guesses). Here's where Rey gets into trouble with the Court and then replies with, "the boats are considered to be Court property, so I never truly left the Court". Are we going to get some well thought out plan or the boats going head first into the breach, combined with a cheesy one-liner from a main character? Probably neither - it'll switch back for 5 pages as we hear why the ship is correct and we are all horrible people.

So one could say he's taking the court with him. But the Court is HUGE right? They may still be within the Court. On the Gunnerkrigg artificially created inland sea. These guys have rooms with cherry trees in them, why not a sea? Also - I am loving the "Epic Cavalry to the Rescue!" moment. But I wouldn't trust those boats they're riding on. Who knows what kind of crushes those things have developed?

Yay, Caption Obvious and the cavalry have arrived! Also, that was quick.
I assume that they knew where to look for the ship because the route it was going to travel was well known. It's just a cruise, after all.
However, I don't quite understand two things: (a) where is Lindsey? (b) how does Zimmy's distortion work? When they were in Zimmingham in the Power Station chapter, she said: "that's cos (Gamma)'s standing right next to me. In real life, I mean. We's still on that roof." So I would have thought that the real world would look normal, perhaps with the local area frozen in time or with everybody being catatonic until Zimmingham collapses. Story-wise, the only explanation would be that this distortion is way stronger than the one she caused then.

I am assuming the lights around the perimeter (of which we see two) are the ether siphons. So the idea of just rushing to the rescue and smashing them seems like a bad idea now. If the Ship and all the students are at the bottom of that sea-chasm, them damaging the e-siphons might just collapse the rift and send all the water crashing down, destroying the ship and drowning the students.
Hmm, the difficulties are mounting up.

Annie told him to leave the Court (rally the robots and come help). The only reason he couldn't leave the Court is because the Court made Annie order him to stay in the Court. Edit: Can't find the page concerning Annie ordering Rey to stay in the Court, must get more coffee.....

Rey actually ended up leaving the court! Technically, he's on board of the Court's ship, so the tradition says no, he didn't. It seems to be in an official capacity What's his official capacity? It's on Annie's request.

The Bots may be able to shut the etheric syphons down and Rey may be able to get out of there before any of the students see him. Or hide in plushie form in Robot's or Shadow's hoodie. The Bots would know he was there, but they could keep that to themselves.

Wonder if that section of reality is just plainly gone for now, or if you'd end up in Zimmingham if you went in that hole. Either way, probably not a good idea to fall in.
Seems to be the ocean is having some difficulty filling its new gap. I'd guess either that hole never stops going down, or those siphons are purposely creating room for the return trip
