How much do you want to bet that those people are nobodys?

Nice breather for the week-end...

Her spells are quirky, like a certain someone once before. I can imagine Annie appreciating that. And Jenny looks rather odd here a bit. And lightly purple. Also, no zarathustra30, I'd rather not. Thanks anyway.

How much do you want to bet that those people are nobodys? Not even a contest. Or worse, people who look normal, but are actually hallucinations, like the not-Kat in Annie's previous venture to Zimmingham. I hope she remembers to touch everybody she meets. EDIT: Also, there's folk around in the background of the second panel. That can't be good.

Once again I question what precisely Jenny's powers are. They seem to have a lot of finesse.
Also, Jenny looks...inhuman in panel 2.

Jenny is proving to be quite powerful and very useful in a pinch!
I just hope the Seraphs are not able to put a power-cancelling note on her too. Jack better find a crowbar and keep it handy.

Somehow I doubt that they're Nobodies. For one thing, they're waving back, as if they recognize the students. If I recall correctly, the Nobodies we know and love tend to ignore Annie unless she purposely attracted their attention, just like you'd expect the average city dweller to act. If you don't know Annie and her friends, there's no reason to wave to them.
I just can't see them being nobodies.
Besides, the silhouettes in the second panel suggest that Annie and Jenny are herding the students and have already found several.

Once again I question what precisely Jenny's powers are. They seem to have a lot of finesse. Well, if she's a witch, probably anything she wants, provided she has the capacity to use it, power to fuel it, and techniques to execute and' /or it.

And Jenny looks rather odd here a bit. And lightly purple. Of course she's still overexcited. And they both are purple-er on the 2-nd panel. Small wonder, given what things may provide lighting there...

Remember Spring Heeled Part 2? We can't trust friggin' anyone at this point. For all we know, everyone is on the ship wondering what the deal with the thundercrack was while Zimmy is huddled in a corner, clutching her head.

Small wonder, given what things may provide lighting there... I thought so, as well. It's just that, all of Jenny's skin visible is purple, while only a bit of Annie's is off-coloured due to the purple. It kinda looks like it's emanating from Jenny. I might just be paranoid. Jenny is rather pallid. Edit: Seriously though, I have suddenly formed a strong fanboy crushing on Jenny. I have a weakness of the users of the sorcerous arts. Her attention to quite fine detail and her politeness is further turning me on harder. It kinda reminds me of Luna Lovegood from HP. She's odd and socially quirky , but polite and kind. Smart AND cute to boot (typical Ravenclaw). She is, by far, my most favourite character. Sorry for tangent.

I'm with fwip on this one. They still could be like not!Kat, but Annie, Jenny and Jack could just poke them and find out. It kinda reminds me of Luna Lovegood from HP. She's odd and socially quirky , but polite and kind. Smart AND cute to boot (typical Ravenclaw). She is, by far, my most favourite character. Sorry for tangent. Yeah, I can kinda see that. I like the Jenny character too, though now that you pointed it out, a "Goth Luna Lovegood" should normally raise all the Mary-Sue territory warning flags in my head.

Once again I question what precisely Jenny's powers are. They seem to have a lot of finesse. "They are what they are. That's how they work."Basically, there are no 'hard' rules whatsoever to rigorously define what etheric tech can and cannot do. It's basically powered by handwavium. After all, if you do something with it you're by definition a wizard.

I'm starting to like Jenny. She's gone from jealous girlfriend to interesting character fairly fast!
Although I'm sure something bad will happen soon...

There must be a scene after panel 5 showing the copter patiently waiting as the elevator descends while music plays in the background.
Too bad it was left on the cutting room floor.

Hrrmmm... this page seems a bit rushed. We don't get to see whom Jack Jenny and Annie have been rounding up, and the etheric seekerbot has already arrived. This page should have been two pages, I don't know what Tom's hurry is. I like the Jenny character too, though now that you pointed it out, a "Goth Luna Lovegood" should normally raise all the Mary-Sue territory warning flags in my head. I wouldn't worry, Tom has always been good about creating well rounded characters. I think Kat, Eggers, Jack, even Annie have all approached Mary-Sue territory before their we learned more about them. I'm starting to like Jenny. She's gone from jealous girlfriend to interesting character fairly fast! I also don't think the 'jealous girlfriend' thing has been forgotten. I bet that at some point near the end of the chapter (or perhaps next one if this is a two-parter) Jenny and Annie are gonna have a little chat about that, and that Annie will be worried about what Jenny might think, and that Jenny will surprise her in a good way. Cause that's the Gunnerkrigg way.

I wouldn't worry, Tom has always been good about creating well rounded characters. I think Kat, Eggers, Jack, even Annie have all approached Mary-Sue territory before their we learned more about them. As I said, it normally would worry me, but I like the character and Tom has earned the benefit of doubt... Still, if it turns out she is in the secret fifth house, is a long lost descendant of Jeanne and Forest-Guy (and further down the bloodline of Kat and Paz), who travelled back in time to ensure her own conception by sacrificing herself, but then falls tragically in love with both Jack and Eggers, but cannot decide between them, and who finally accidentally outsmarts Coyote and at the same time reunites the Court and Forest because she just can't help being so nice but is really clumsy, then I will start to worry. Did I forget any clichés? Oh, yeah she'd have to look exactly like Tom, but hotter. And now I kinda want to read that fanfic... it'd be magnificent.

That's because she never was a jealous girlfriend. Maybe not, but at the very least Tom wanted us to think she was, with the over-the-shoulder death glare. That's too subtle to ignore . On the other hand, I'm still having trouble interpreting the "why, helloooo." What tone is Jenny supposed to be using? What does she mean by it? Originally I thought it was kind of mock friendly, like "why, helloooo girl that my boyfriend is being to friendly to, nice to meet you!", but given that Jenny turned out to be genuinely friendly and cool, maybe she meant that as a cheerful greeting and we all misinterpreted it... I's confuzzled.

Jenny is so very British. I, like others, had entertained the idea that she might be Coyote in disguise; but it can't be. She's simply too British. That's because she never was a jealous girlfriend. Maybe not, but at the very least Tom wanted us to think she was, with the over-the-shoulder death glare. That's not an over-the-shoulder death glare. She may look slightly creepy in that panel, but that was probably unintended. It must be a side effect of her goth-ness.

I'm still baffled at how Jack was able to so quickly create such a sophisticated drone able to travel all the way back to the school. While Jenny's spell is pretty awesome, if what they sent didn't need to be able to travel that whole distance, then why not just use a paper airplane. I'm thoroughly impressed by both Jenny and Jack's ability to work quick.

It looks like a definite glare to me, and I'm sure Tom intended it. What Jenny means by it, and what Tom meant for the reader to think Jenny meant by it, are different questions. Wow that was a weird sentence.
