At least they thought to tape the helmets down.

Even when the robots are being incredibly serious... they're still incredibly silly. Also, nice shot, Annie! O( ' ^)o

In all seriousness though, doesn't Annie choose what her etheric form collides with? Just phase through the helmets and hit the buttons? ...or just burn everything, that'd work too. To an extent.

While the helmets may protect them from telekinetic off-button presses, I'm not confident it will provide any significant protection against spontaneous combustion. At least they're learning, though!

When Zimmy says,"I'll kill you!" it seems like a threat, but couldn't it also be a warning?

They're... *adapting*! Come Wednesday, do we hear the phrases 'Resistance is futile' and 'Prepare for assimilation'?

Jack knew this was going to happen. So THAT's what he meant by they should have known better than bringing her on a boat.
He and Kat need to work their laser cow/robot handling magic right about now.

In all seriousness though, doesn't Annie choose what her etheric form collides with? Just phase through the helmets and hit the buttons? ...or just burn everything, that'd work too. This was my immediate thought as well. This was not. Jack knew this was going to happen. So THAT's what he meant by they should have known better than bringing her on a boat. That's most probably NOT what he meant. Sure, afterwards he may claim he called it, but he called just any risk related to Zimmy - here the risk is actually more related to the ship, so to actually he should have been moaning "we're all here in this damned ship without supervision, with all these crazy religious fanatic robots - and oh my freaking God, they even brought Zimmy here!" But he didn't. He wasn't to smallest extent worried about the ship or the robots. When Zimmy says,"I'll kill you!" it seems like a threat, but couldn't it also be a warning? Yeah, but I guess, seen the historical threat of killing everybody for Gamma, that it is probably both a threat and a warning. And it rings true either way.

Yeah, that's some BS. Zimmy's greasy hair would have caught fire from that.

Quite honestly if Zimmy of all people were making death threats, I'd take it pretty damn seriously. Also, avatar thing: very sloppy, messy thing but eh

In all seriousness though, doesn't Annie choose what her etheric form collides with? Just phase through the helmets and hit the buttons? That was my first thought. It may be possible, however, that they have developed special anti-etherium shields for the helmets. Sort of like Faraday cages, but for magic instead of electromagnetism. Quite honestly if Zimmy of all people were making death threats, I'd take it pretty damn seriously. That's a pretty good life philosophy, all things considered.

Hmm, this may have been brought up already, but just realised something. This probably stems from the robots overhearing Kat a few chapters ago: www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1294 stating of the death of a robot part leading to the kiss and love of Paz: 'It was Worth It'. Taken to it's logical conclusion (as they are robots), they may conclude that love is therefore deemed worth killing for. This makes the ship and it's drones that much more dangerous...

Also, quick prediction: Someone is going to die this chapter. Possibly Jenny, but I reckon it's going to be Gamma or Paz...

I get Love Boat, but what exactly do the Seraphs think they're getting out of this? Furthering the Transrobotic Cause? Helping a robo-brother with romance? They seemed interested in Kat growing a robot, but not this interested. Am I missing something?

[ url href="http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Steel_%28type%29#Battle_properties"]To an extent.[ /url] I'm not sure helmets aren't plastic. Let alone duct tape... So they maybe protected themselves from telekinesis. And yeah, it was her "nice" option. Oh, and she have seen Seraph internals. The most obvious way to mission-kill a Seraph with fire is melting cables in the neck (these may be heat-resistant, but very unlikely). This would separate GolemPU from moving parts of the body. And at the same time cut eye lasers from power source - even if controls have some backup power, a continuous beam is unlikely to be useable like this. So effectively they would be reduced to (at most) talking heads attached to inert bodies.

I love Annie's "don't mess with my friends" face! She's all Sailor Moon, Power of Friendship, and stuff in today's page. Is Zimmy a friend or more of a psycho acquaintance?
