So the rain helps Zimmy with.. stuff.. might the sea air also have its benefits?
Disregarding from the seasick part, at least.

50 seconds? You guys are getting slow Gamma still has the spider eyes. That can't be accidental. And I wonder if Zimmy messes with reality if she's sick.

So is it seasickness, or does the sea act as sort of anti-rain-effect for Zimmy? I wonder...

Gamma still has the spider eyes. That can't be accidental. I'm pretty sure that's from her constant lack of sleep. Jack wasn't sleeping much himself when under the influence of the Whitelegs. Also, awwwww... Zimmy went on the boat so Gamma can go. How cute. <3 Aaaand immediately onto the pool. Nothing further from Annine on Zimmy's comment? Hmm.. not sure what to say on that. It's rather obvious why Zimmy came (she needs Gamma so she might have gone regardless of personal feelings, but still). Actually makes it odd why Annie asked. Need to think the situations, assumptions, & thoughts through more before I derive much from it, though.

Gamma still has the spider eyes. That can't be accidental. I think those eyes are just the combination of excitement/happiness despite being perpetually tired. Tom's comment "Selfish" is... interesting. I'm not sure who he's referring to.

Gamma hasn't slept much for years, while taking care of Zimmy. And while she does usually have circles under her eyes, she's never looked so much like Jack. It worries me, to be sure.

Tom's comment "Selfish" is... interesting. I'm not sure who he's referring to. Annie's comment, I'm assuming. Thinking it through a bit more (but not completely, as I'm rather tired to sort this out fully), Zimmy not coming on the ship means that Gamma almost certainly wouldn't of, not only due to Zimmy really needing Gamma to keep her power in-check, but due to the feelings the two have for each other (how those feelings are manifested I'll leave to others to debate). Thus, Zimmy deciding to come on the cruise, despite hating boats, means that she want's Gamma (who wanted to come) to have some fun for once. Gamma's always sacrificing for Zimmy, so Zimmy's trying to give back to Gamma. Annie's question pretty much ignores all of that. What I can't figure out is why Annie would ask that question, as even if she failed to notice the emotional side of my thought process above, I would've assumed she would notice the more logical side of that - Gamma & Zimmy can't be seperated; Gamma sacrifices for Zimmy all the time, so Zimmy repays her by going somewhere she doesn't want to go (the "repayment" is both a logical & emotional thing to do). So it seems that either Annie is somehow completely oblivious to why Zimmy would decide to come on the cruise (which is easy to figure out), or some other thought went through her head first. The only thing I could think of that Tom would be commenting "Selfish" on is Annie's question, though that idea I'm kinda unsure on. Maybe Annie automatically thinks that Zimmy would always be selfish no matter what? Actually, typing that, perhaps the "Selfish" is meant to be taking reversely (can't think of a better word there) in terms of what Zimmy's doing? I dunno, it just seems a strange thing for Annie to ask, unless her reasoning is totally blind here. I could explain myself better, but as I said, I am a tired Pilot.

Okay, I concede that Antimony and Katerina are probably actually in this chapter after all. Obviously Antimony's question to Zeta makes no sense if Antimony is really Jack, and anyway we've already established way back that Jenny is Zimmy so Zimmy can't be one of the people in this scene anyway. So clearly, through the process of logical indeduction, we can see that this must be Jack discovering Katerina and Antimony are on the boat after all, in the form of Gamma and Zeta.
Gamma is happy to see Antimony because she's really Kat and she still has a crush on Jack, and now Jack is asking Antimony why she's on the boat when she's obviously such an anti-social shut in, and Antimony's refusing to tell Jack because she's just not much of a sharer. The super-important but also super-subtle amazing reveal on this page: Antimony hates boats! BECAUSE SHE'S A FIRE ELEMENTAL. IT ALL FITS, CAN'T YOU SEE?!

So is it seasickness, or does the sea act as sort of anti-rain-effect for Zimmy? I wonder... Freshwater good, saltwater bad? Doesn't practically all of the rain originate from the seas and oceans? (Okay, originally originally it comes from the stars, and from another viewpoint all the water on Earth circulates, e.g. the water in oceans comes from different sources like rivers, but anyway.) If the etherstuff for one reason or other goes up to the skies with the humidity/water-vapor/those-water-molucules-that-would-be-rain-someday, then oceans might be depleted of it.

Aww.
I had some doubts about Gamma and Zimmy's relationship before, I had never seen it as close as many of the others here were suggesting, but this page really turns me around on it. Zimmy agreeing to come on a boat, something she hates, just to see Gamma be happy, is quite sweet really. Given we saw Jack earlier as well, I predict we are going to see a lot more of Gamma and Zimmy's relationship this chapter.
Also the "Selfish" comment, I took that to just be Tom being sarcastic. Zimmy is often seen by a lot of people, both in GC and on these forums, as being selfish, making Gamma stay up, lying to her about what others say, etc. This page is showing her being the opposite of that, doing something she hates just to see her friend be happy. Zimmy is being the opposite of selfish here, opposite to what a lot of people usually expect her to do, and showing how much she cares for Gamma more than just a dampener. For Annie to ask that question is her also assuming Zimmy's being selfish would have won out over making Gamma happy, and shows how poor a judgement of relationships that Annie really is.

Thank you for stating & expanding on my thoughts far better than my sleep-deprived brain could. I agree with you conclusion as well - Annie just really isn't good with judging or dealing with relationships, and even people as a whole sometimes. It'll be interesting to see if that gets addressed more this chapter.

It's been around since Dobranoc, Gamma: gunnerkrigg.com/?p=183 Daedalus no doubt is aware of that, and I think he refers to the arguable difference to a more recent picture. They seem a bit different indeed, but is there really any difference in the brown circles around her eyes, or is it that they are combined with excitement that makes Gamma's eyes resemble those of spider-Jack? I'd say the difference to earlier Gamma is that she used to always look tired but calm, whereas now she's tired but excited. Without further evidence of Zimmingham causes, I would wager that and the excitement is more likely explained by the cruise than by the spider-plans.

Well, Carver is being her clueless self, again. Also Zimmy, if you keep this sort of thing up, people might start thinking that you're a nice person. Daedalus no doubt is aware of that, and I think he refers to the arguable difference to a more recent picture. They seem a bit different indeed, but is there really any difference in the brown circles around her eyes, or is it that they are combined with excitement that makes Gamma's eyes resemble those of spider-Jack? And besides, I don't think that Jack's eyes had anything to do with possession, either, just the fact that he stopped sleeping when the whitelegs got him.

Well with the assumption this is going to turn into Annie getting jealous of couples, the only ones left to appear are... Red and Blue assuming that them being a pair is enough to count... aaaand... William and Janet, unless I'm missing any.
Of course this could just be the chapter where the Court decides to stuff all the students onto a ship without adult supervision to see how long it stays afloat. Less likely, but I sure as hell wouldn't mind watching that.

I agree that the selfish comment is just sarcasm on Tom's part, my impression of Annie's question however is split two ways. Either she is being her usual relationship clueless self, or, given how intuitive she can be, is in fact asking the question just to tease the answer out of Zimmy. If this is the case she definitely has her answer.
Or she could just be oblivious. :/
Oh, as for gamma I think her eyes indicate she is just that excited to be on the cruise with everyone combined with a likely lack of sleep.

Though, the combination does make them look quite crazy. Tom's comment is obviously a typo for "shellfish" You beat me to it. Me, as well. We're all so punny. If Red, Blue, Shadow, and Jackalope appear, this really will start shaping into a Beach Episode. They'll end up having to run a haunted refreshment stand in bikinis, by the end. For gratuitous fanservice, Shadow will get the plus-sized one, and shapeshift to fit. Or, it's a Zimmy/Gamma/Jenny chapter. I'm sticking with that. Though, Shadow in a bikini...

So is it seasickness, or does the sea act as sort of anti-rain-effect for Zimmy? I wonder... Freshwater good, saltwater bad? You know, salt has long been used as a means to counter spirits (particularly evil ones). Perhaps it neutralizes aether?
