From what I recall, he has a buffer on a server somewhere and the process is automated. Though that might have changed since, I dunno.
In any case, pretty sure this is one of the longest delays in a normally rock-solid update schedule..

I will of course change the title to avoid confusion as soon as a real post comes out.
Speculation, anyone?
(Also, does this mean two updates on Monday?}

Wouldn't have thought the buffer would be affected. Oh well. We can but wait.

Weird. The comics should keep coming even without Tom's personal internet connection, since he doesn't host them from his home and he should have several weeks worth of buffet. What a time for the system to fail...

Perhaps he means that the buffer server is down, or his connection to the buffer server is down, or all the Internets but our forum and IRC channel are down.

And there it is! That is quite the party going on!
But the little one is still sad.

Or that could be his normal self. Who knows.

Prediction: On Monday, Canvey will trip over Green and we'll finally start to figure out what's wrong.

And there it is! That is quite the party going on! Yes, the music notation is certainly... lively. Looks like the party's reached the village of the Anwyn. Or it was just out of view previously... Or Ysengrin made some more buildings for some reason. Thank you for your profile picture. I had not heard of that manga, but the character art attracted me.

"Apology accepted, artist." (Of course, no apology was required of Tom! I just thought Ysengrin doing Darth Vader impersonations fitted in with the par-ty spirit :-)

Now we've got over the Great Update Disaster of '14, any ideas about what's causing the blue-green glow from off-stage right in the last three panels?
(A few wisps hanging out?)

I love the layout of today's page! From the angled panel lines to the flow of the music across the panels to the descending camera angles. The thumbprint on the waxing crescent moon, everything is just very pleasant. Not awe-inspiring, just very nice. It reminds me of this page, in feel. The colors on today's page are very nice, too, and quite how I mentally pictured Annie in the Forest.

It was the right idea to hire the band from the Mos Eisley cantina.

I doubt it's a wisp. The wisp's glow has no green in it, it's mostly white with a blue tinge. Arguably, the green tinge in the latest comic comes from the light reflecting off the green bushes, but if you look at the reflection in the water bowl it's still greenish. Unless wisp color varies, that isn't a wisp.

Is she shrinking? Compare her to Gilly McGillpits in the first few pages of the chapter.

Is she shrinking? Compare her to Gilly McGillpits in the first few pages of the chapter. I don't think so. She's the same size in relation to her rabbit steed, so a more likely guess (barring a camera effect explanation) is that Gilly there is growing larger. If you take a look at yesterday's page, he's shown nearly the same size as the Anwyn! Could be that he either changes size at will, or that he has a party-related growth factor. That would explain his lack of clothing.....

On the other hand, since this chapter is titled "Tall tales" and this guy is growing taller, perhaps it's related to his stretching of the truth? He does look like he's made of silly putty.
Or spam...hmm... Maybe he's the embodiment of spam mails? He's certainly annoying enough! It looks like there may be a modicum of truth about the growing larger ones, if he's the example. Or perhaps he's constantly spreading factually incorrect stories because he's worried that if he doesn't tell 3 people, something bad will happen?
Also, we really need to decide on a name for this guy. Hopefully Tom will remedy that shortly for us, since it appears that his role in the chapter keeps growing. (sorry) But until then, it's too irritating to not have a solid label for him.

Perhaps the buffer server phones home for authentication before pushing an update? (kinda stretching it here but who knows) Perhaps he just has his buffer on his home computer which runs a script to update it to a server. Maybe the script Tom uses to maintain the comic database does not have a buffer feature, and he does not know how to add it and does not want to pay for it to be done for him, so he uses some sort of input simulating macro system to run the comic adding procedure through the web front end. Maybe he has made the hosting contract 10 years ago with the cheapest web hotel there is that does not allow direct server access. The reasons are numerous; this is technology, so sometimes the obvious solutions just is not possible. Or, he does that by hand every time.

Visually fantastic page! Plus, it looks like great fun. Well, for most.
I'm looking forward to learning more about Glum the Green. I was thinking she's originally from the Court, but maybe, she represents a third party in the Ether-vs-Science struggle. The Moon girl from Faraway Morning seemed to be acting as a third party(and oddly had a rabbit, as well). The Tic-tocs. Anthony Carver. We really don't know much about the different players. Maybe, Green moved to the Forest not from the Court, but some other place.
I'm expecting all the answers Monday. Or we'll have 5 panels of gorgeous color, a final panel of Canvey saying, "So...", and me twiddling my thumbs till Wednesday. One of the two.

I figured the girl had something to do with the Chinese legend that there was a girl on the moon with rabbits. She ended up there because there was like a bad emperor who had these two pills that could make you immortal. That took one pill though. I don't know what her English name would be but the girl stole the two pills and ate them herself so that the bad emperor couldn't. Since you're only supposed to take one and she downed them both, she floated up onto the moon. And I think the rabbits were there originally? I think there's another story explaining it, but I can't remember.
