On a serious note. How does Kat feel about Annie being so cool about the whole thing. Might scare her a little? Annie is just being Annie. She bottles up her grief. I'm sure that Kat's used to it by now. Well the girl really did change.

And I bet nearly none of us expected Annie to do that.
But I think we should have.

Good on both of them.
Kat for being there for Mort and Annie.
And for Annie for being strong enough for Mort, and truthful with Kat about her feelings.

A fitting chapter end. Poor Annie.

I don't think I've been this emotional about a character who was already dead when we met them.

Is this the first chapter ending without "Thanks for reading"?

Right on Mort, for having an impact after your time. The mark we leave on the living, is the only legacy worth leaving. I'm not sure which extra page would be a more touching tribute. Would it be a page showing an Etheric reunion between Mort, his family and friends? Or a page showing how each character deals with the news?

I think that it's kind of fitting that Annie's expression is invisible in the first panel.

Wow, the previous three pages just made me tear up, this one made me actually shed tears... Sometimes knowing exactly about a sad thing that's going to happen in a story makes it even more heartbreaking when it's finally there. Man... Luckily, Kat remembers the way out. Both out of the ROTD and out of the dark places of your mind, Annie. On a much lighter note: City Face wearing a fedora, Bobeyes wearing a flat cap.

The way out is known, but can they get out? Will they be stopped, for whatever reason?

Just my 2p, but holding it together when you feel like that *is* being as tough as nails. Cya Mort.

(And then City Face is no more) NOOO---!! ?? I'm just... well, entertaining isn't the right word, but I'm just going through an imaginary situation where other things we hold dear comes to pass (away). You know, like how some of the guys say that the writing out of Mort probably means that the story might take a turn for the even sadder.

When we're looking at Kat, the bookshelves are empty.
When we're looking at Annie, the shelves are packed with books.
In the final frame, we're looking at Kat again, but now the shelves are full. Does she see them now?

A low level necro summon! A passable effort. In the frames over Annie's shoulder, the background is drawn in a way that makes it look out of focus. So individual books would be impossible to see, because they'd all be blurred together. This was done to emphasize the foreground action, whereas the first and final panels gave full focus to everything in order to give balanced emphasis to the characters and the physical space they occupy.
