Is Mort allowed to do that? Well... as far as we've seen, going into the ether is a one-way trip. Which means that RotD can't do a thing to him afterward. And I doubt they'd refuse to preserve his final record alongside all the others.
(It suddenly occurred to me that the VCR tape that Kat was using to look up final records was really really long... considering that there was only one... and VCR tapes are not random-access devices.)

I also trust Annie and Kat's judgement. It might be a different matter if they were trying to keep him from letting go, but I doubt it. |
