Holy shit, that was the most awesome (used in the sense of inspiring awe and fear) thing that anyone has said in the comic so far. It reminds me of the comment that Jones has the ability to be a poet but chooses not to pursue that skill. That was beautiful.

Jones just wanted to see if the bombs tickle I guess.
Or she is on some crazy mission to see if it is possible to kill herself.

She slept (?) in lava, I'm guessing it'd take more than a human-made rocket to off her. And if she was around for millions of years before that you'd think she would know..
So this is how Mort goes. :/

It doesn't sound like she's too keen on saving little Morty.

OK, that freaked me out. It's even creepier given that you can see the bomb in the last panel. I hope it's not too gory.

It doesn't sound like she's too keen on saving little Morty. I know. I know you're curious, Jonesy, but there will be other air raids. Get the kid to a shelter. ETA: Going back to Jones' backstory, do you think that's why she worked in the factory? In the hopes that it might blow up?

Jonesy looks a bit troubled in the last panel there.

Jones will shield you with her mighty body!

Bye Mort.

Looks like the last information just came in, and she can't really do anything about it. Going back to Jones' backstory, do you think that's why she worked in the factory? In the hopes that it might blow up? I knew it. She gets high on bombs. . . . Probably she also eats white phosphorus, racing it down with a hot mug of napalm every morning.

That was a pretty boss line. Makes you wonder if Jones made a little trip over to the States to sample the American stuff.
Sucks to be you, Morts. But don't worry, the ROTD'll set you up with a nice gig. Reasonable hours, clean workspace, the folks you're gonna meet--real riot, them. It'll be a bit of a while before retirement rolls around, but you will be just fine.

It doesn't sound like she's too keen on saving little Morty. Not much she really could do at that point, even if she physically threw Mort away he would still in the bombs kill-radius.

True, but she still had a shot at it before the bomb was falling. In any case, it's time for the first of at least two character deaths in this chapter! Whooooo!

noone3I'd find it absolutely hilarious if that were the case. "I found the detonation at the Trinity Site to be quite superior to the munitions I had encountered up to that point, but still woefully short of my expectations considering the Hype. For all their ingenuity, Humans seem destined to never replicate the sheer *oomph* of the Chicxulub impact; which despite my presence in the immediate impact site being entirely coincidental, was nonetheless rather thrilling." Jones is probably more of an exaton kinda girl.

I got it. Jones is the anthropomorphic personification of " Oh, X, never change!" sentiment. It doesn't sound like she's too keen on saving little Morty. Maybe she got a bit fatalistic by that time. Probably she also eats white phosphorus, racing it down with a hot mug of napalm every morning. What's the point? Now, taking a pyrogel bath now and then, when she feels nostalgic for the beauty of more tectonically active times... why not?

Oh crap. Oh crap crap crap. Oh poor Mort. Just trying to save that odd lady and then... é__è That's too sad. But hey, we already knew he was dead, he's a ghost, and everyone has to die someday (but Jones). That's just...
(And then, out of nowhere, and if Jones could die of poison ?... Nah, she probably has tested it already, no ?...)

Jones may be indestructible, but her clothes are not. Will we get to see a *gasp* nude, if slightly scorched, Jones on Monday? Friday cliffhanger if ever I saw one!

Jones sounds to me like she was sent there by somebody 'to feel the might of their bombs'.

As sad as this is, Mort's face in panel five is actually kind of funny; it says "what is this! I don't even--".

Everyone saw it coming. Jones could theoretically have saved Mort if she had used herself as an (in)human shield, using herself as a means of protecting him from the full blast. but that would be 'intervening'. Not to mention how awkward it would be to be suddenly crash-tackled by her. EDIT: (And then, out of nowhere, and if Jones could die of poison ?... Nah, she probably has tested it already, no ?...) You can't poison a rock. Acid on the other hand...

I'd suspect this was the reason why Mortimer stuck around if he was slightly older. Jones sounds to me like she was sent there by somebody 'to feel the might of their bombs'. "You make it sound simple. Why won't you walk out there and feel the might of their bombs?" "This sounds intersting. I'll take your advice." "Wha..?" Yeah, that would be like ol' good Jones. Jones could theoretically have saved Mort if she had used herself as an (in)human shield Not really. Maybe with a coconut-sized frag, but not block-busters. Even if she won't be thrown right through him, this isn't going to noticeably weaken the shockwave of a bomb larger than herself, nor keep away all the debris from the entire next house flying apart. The best she could do was to put him into a window on the side of the street farther from the bomb - if she can move this fast, and his chances would still be slim even if he won't get killed by this help alone.
