If we're lucky, it'll be over quick. I'm hoping for that, quick means we don't have to ride out a British version of Grave of the Fireflies custom tailored for Morty.

So this whole time Mort was killed by falling marsupials. It's just like I thought.

Don't forget the page number OP :3 kangaROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Good eye. Caught that, was wondering who else. Should probably be Speculator Policy to assume that any numerically significant mystery can be linked in some way to 113.

They assigned people to trenches? I would not have expected.

Now taking bets one how many pages it takes for young Mort to die. My guess is next Wednesday, seven pages after the chapter title page.

This is probably gonna be a chapter where a parade of deadly things fail to happen to Mort

Yeah, probably. Either that, or Morty will survive for a while. This is Tom after all, you never know what's coming.

It may end now ...
... but I'll go on record wild-spec-ing that this is the scare that had Mort's parents sending him to Gunnerkrigg Court. Hey, ghosts usually have some connection to their haunts.

I would probably just run to the nearest bomb shelter rather than the one that I'm assigned to. How many minutes of warning did the air raid sirens usually give?

"Anyway I survived all that and got to the country safely. After the war was over, I liked it there so much I moved there and lived in the country until I died when I was 65. But I always remained young at heart." You know, I'm sort of hoping for this one there, for the sole reason of being a nice twist. Even though I don't think Mort's age was ever mentioned, this option seems unlikely. Unlikely, but neat. Regardless, Mortimer here seems like a jolly good little chap. Pip-pip, cheerio and all that rot. More British-sounding words.

I would probably just run to the nearest bomb shelter rather than the one that I'm assigned to. Don't forget what people we are talking here. Brits even tend to queue while waiting for the bus. I got scolded once, by an eldelry couple for just standing on the bus stop out of my order. And it wasn't even in UK proper (happened in Ireland). How many minutes of warning did the air raid sirens usually give? I guess you could never know. There were some stages of "the Blitz", where different overall targets were set for the bombers, and different countermeasures were exerted, from visual, and hearing detection to newly developed radar. Alarm sounded when the attack was detected and imminent, and I guess it could never be too soon.

I would probably just run to the nearest bomb shelter rather than the one that I'm assigned to. That's a bad idea when the entire city is running to shelters at the same time. If people don't take their assigned shelters, the chances are that some are going to end up beyond the capacity and people can't find one with room in time. Also, the chances are that the shelter you're assigned to is the nearest one to your home and the one you're likely to find the quickest, anyway.

And Tom's number, a.k.a. the crown, a.k.a. 113, makes yet another cameo. At this point, it is just like The Numbers, already, this mythical piece of meme completely interwoven with all events of the mythos that is never quite fully explained.

Probably not, I'd assume this was fairly early in the war (kids still waiting to be sent away, not much damage seen in the streets) and the V1 rockets were first used in 1944. The Roooooo is just the very distinctive WW2 air raid siren.
