Well, I'll be sad if he goes. Even if it's somewhat of a triumphant moment.

I'm worried that this might be a 'See ya!" for the entire comic, and this is Tom's way of telling us that he's quitting.
Shit my brain is broken from reading the responses to one of his Tweets. I need to go be in that thread now.

Hmm in the sidebar on that image is "Ellen's group selfie from the Oscars", and it struck me how similar the two images were...

Alas poor Mort. He's been a goodly companion, we'd all hate to see him go. But I guess the world spins ever on.

Calling it now: "See ya!" are going to be the actual last words of this chaper! I'm looking forward to this. If it is written anything like Give or Take it's going to be a great chapter.

Oh Mort.. I wonder what final thoughts he will leave with us. Perhaps the story of where he came from, who he was, why he stayed. Yay, character focus chapters! Haven't had one of these since The Stone. :3

I'm worried that this might be a 'See ya!" for the entire comic, and this is Tom's way of telling us that he's quitting. Yeah, no. Tom telling us that he is quitting would be Tom's way to tell that he is quitting. Why imagine that he would code such an announcement into the comic strip instead of just openly stating the fact? People have been making these kinds of guesses for over a year now over the smallest of things, when the fact is that Tom quit his day job to work on the comic full time and it's now his main source of livelihood. He is not going to quit until he is in a much more financially secure position than he is at the moment, all the story elements aside. And no, he won't be switching to a different comic, either, because he can't be sure if it'd be nearly as popular as Gunnerkrigg Court. Audiences are fickle. But it looks like we are certainly saying goodbye to our friendly neighbourhood monster clown for good in the following chapter. It's been a good run, Mort, we're going to miss you!

Going to miss Mort. He has been a lively addition to the cast. Looking forward to learning more about the relationship between the guides and the ether, though.

This sort of feels like its trying to shoo out the clowns, in that Mort was always sort of a more comedic character, who very rarely had any sort of significance on the plot, but now that things seem to be growing a bit more serious, and as we see the rather dark Jeanne plot is related to him through the ghost angle this chapter was about, he seems a tad out of place.

I'm pretty confident that isn't her secret (she certainly doesn't hide if form anyone as far as I can tell), but that is a discussion for a different forum.

Did you actually read this comic? I thought you were here only to show your "mild annoyance". No, Mort is not comic relief, but an important character in this story. You can't explain the whole fucking world with tvtropes. Apart from that welcome the the forum.
