What happens to the comments that appear on the comic pages? Once the page isn't current, the link goes away and you can't read the comics any more.
i mean, obviously this is the better place to be, but there are people there that haven't discovered here yet. Also, I think Tom pays at least a little attention to those comments in order to moderate them.

He approves them manually, yeah. As for where they go, I'm pretty sure they're just wiped away whenever an update comes out. I think some people prefer the comments actually.. I've recognized a few of the names from old/inactive forum accounts, so I guess it's a simpler way of putting an opinion out there or something. And there is a big "Forum" button on every page

I think Tom said he keeps a copy of the comments.
A few years ago I used to read every comment if I could, but once they started going above 100 on a regular basis, I had to leave them behind.

I tried leaving a few comments now and then a good while back, but as soon as I noticed these forums existed I immediately jumped on board with a wipe of my brow and an "oh thank goodness" on my lips. It's pretty much impossible to have any kind of conversation there because of the staggered way the comments appear, and there's pretty much always way too many to slog through anyway, as Per mentioned.
Regardless of here or there, however, Tom is always watching.
always

WATCHINGI imagine the relationship as a giant warehouse full of internet people, and then a large pane of one-way glass and Tom on the other side, glancing in about once a week to ensure nobody has killed each other or burned the place down.

They're deconstructed, recycled, and the reclaimed letters are used for the next comic's comments.
