Also, does Annie look really, really young in this flashback? And thank Coyote for definitive Tom-text...for once.

Oh man, so true. It's always funny/awkward when a best friend brings up a secret you forgot you divulged. Fourth panel - Katerina Donlan gets high on books.

So, some spec: has Renard's type of language kinda rubbed off on Annie?
Seems like a bit of an odd choice of words for a 15-year-old.

This still isn't the end of the chapter? How much more stuff can there still be?
Anyway, it's funny, for a moment I was slightly upset that Tom had to retcon in a past event to justify the current situation even though he really doesn't need to, but leaving it out from the past chapters emphasises how it's something that Kat herself doesn't remember; she would have been a lot calmer if she had.

I like that Annie took what Kat said about dating a girl at face value. Consistent with her character. Good show.

Yeah, like first-few-chapters young? I wonder how long she's had those pyjamas. Annie says that this was "last year". The pajamas just make them look younger. P.S. It's a lot harder to edit in quotes on a smartphone, hence two posts in succession.

Or both of them picked it up from Surma. I'm voting for door number three.

This was the best resolution. The best.
Also, I love that they had a slumber party. It's little details like that that make them seem so much more real.

When we saw Annie sitting outside the tree room, I was hoping for a more dramatic conversation than what happened, but I'm okay with what Tom did. It honestly works better from a character standpoint.

I love how all concerns regarding Annie's reaction seem so silly now, just like that. It couldn't have been any other way. This makes so much sense.

You know what I just thought of that does disappoint me about this conversation? Annie wasn't upset that Kat didn't tell her that she was dating Paz. I was very much expecting that to happen. It always confuses me when people say this. They weren't even a couple before! Kat wasn't sure whether Paz liked her as more than a friend before the kiss. I'm sure she told Annie that she and Paz were hanging out together, and telling her any more would have been purely speculative before a few seconds prior to when Annie found out anyway. In fact, I bet that, if Annie hadn't walked in on It Keeps Happening when she did, Kat would have just told her about it afterwards anyway. Which actually makes me wonder what the whole point of all this long, drawn-out "searching for Annie" thing was about. Tom could've easily just drawn a scene without Annie's interruption, and then a conversation between the two of them afterwards. I guess the whole payoff was supposed to be from these few strips of not being sure about the reaction.

This have to be a joke. I mean, does Annie not remember Renard's comment?
