I wonder if Annie is advanced so far that she can make her fire burn intended targets but nothing else, or if it's just illusory fire for intimidation purposes...

ITS ABOUT DAMN TIME
also LOL @ "support your tank"
How does Tom have time for WOW and a work-at-home job? The two are usually not compatible.

So far we haven't seen Annie's fire actually burn anything at all. It's just given out heat without consuming anything. I'm not yet even sure if it even can cause physical damage, though it can probably hurt.

I made the fire undectable to the cows. Its perfectly safe as well.

I'm not yet even sure if it even can cause physical damage, though it can probably hurt. I'm specifically quoting Kat, when she said You gotta let me examine that thing one day, Annie. Figure out how it burns some things and not others And Renard's response: It behaves that way because she wills it so. So, Annie is able to "burn some things and not others", even if it hasn't been shown in-comic. Also: did anyone else notice the resemblance between the depiction of Annie in the last panel and her ancestor? Especially their eyes.

He DID try to warn them she wasn't fully human. It's not completely clear if Annie's fire can behave like real fire. It did force Jim to stop in his tracks and make a Donlan Defense Sphere on the bridge 807. He should be familiar with the ability from experience with Surma, and know if it were harmless. Regardless, we know that in the Gunnerverse, imagination = magic, and magic is real. As real as a colossal fingerprint on the moon anyway. So I vote 'yes', if Annie wills the fire to char flesh, it will, and with selective precision. Once again I ask, since Surma must have been a major Bad-Ass in her day, why did she not participate in taking Rey/Danny down? 1215

He is just missing the cigar: "I love it when a plan comes together". Forest creatures are all too fond of staging setups, she was just goaded into making her fire glands kick in.

How does Tom have time for WOW and a work-at-home job? The two are usually not compatible. It's not like one really has to play WOW to pick up on its memes. I don't play it but I still got the reference.

I don't play it but I still got the reference. Or he could have picked it up earlier from pen-and-paper culture. The term was not made up by WoW, it just got a wider spread with the onset of mmo's. On a completely different note: do you think that Y planned for this to happen, that A would come in and take over, and that is why he's grinning like a maniac....as opposed to his normal, completely natural and calm smiling demeanor. Or is it just murderous happiness at some support. Cast Flame shield! Roll for damage!

Once again I ask, since Surma must have been a major Bad-Ass in her day, why did she not participate in taking Rey/Danny down? 1215Probably she was emotionally involved and unreliable. She wouldn't fight and she got left behind. EDIT: remember that it is technically _her fault_ if Danny died.

Whether he planned it or not, he is pleased that Annie's learning. Speaking their language. Getting stronger.

Shouldn't someone who is wearing a wooden exoskeleton be a little more freaked out about being on fire? I mean a first, before he notices it doesn't actually burn him. Ysengrin here is just like "Well, huh..."
Also, this page reminds me of "Carrie"...

Insert Super Saiyan joke here. I wonder what may happen, if they may run into a monster that feeds of fire.

Also, I love Y's look in panel three; he's like "WUT." Trying to figure out what's going on...then "AWW YEAH!"

This is, as many people noted, the best possible turn of events. Plus the first time we've seen Ysengrin grin. Very pleased with this turn of events.
But, if there is no suffering and conflict between them, I wonder what Coyote is plotting to do here...or *did* he act benevolently before?

So I guess if a fire elemental can control fire, they can control a human not getting burned while they make babies together. Makes sense.

Also: did anyone else notice the resemblance between the depiction of Annie in the last panel and her ancestor? Especially their eyes. I did, and it helps bring into, er, focus something that has been bothering me for a while. When Annie accepts the position of Forest Medium, she does so with a flambe flourish. The trouble is the image, while spectacular, just doesn't look like Annie to me. I had put it down to Tom experimenting with manga styling, but now I'm not so sure.

I notice that the General doesn't have actual feet.. I wonder if he just slithers around like they're a collection of snakes, so it looks like he's gliding across the floor, or if he uses the individual tendrils as legs (see: Squidwort from Spongebob).

Ys in panel three is my favorite. He just looks like this was unexpected, and he's taking a moment to figure it out, but he's not really surprised or bewildered in any way.
