Jeez, you're quick. I literally watched Tom's tweet come in, and was still beaten to the punch.
EDIT: Also: Do spirit wasps imply the existence of spirit bees?

Aargh! Wopsie!
Actually, it wouldn't surprise me to learn that it *is* the Seed Bismuth, but that its account of matters might be a little in error.

Soo, I'm guessing that Coyote himself is floating in the background, calling this creature a liar. I already suspected that in the last page, but now it seems even more clear.

Thus far, what we know about the identity of the "SB" is that it has turned from a beautiful shiny winged fairy-creature into a potentially parasitic hymenopteran. Which is likely its real form.
This makes it extremely improbable that it is the SB, and very likely that it was one of Ys' army. And Coyote is intervening.
Meanwhile, what it tells about the Seed Bismuth and the origins of the court, might nevertheless be all true.

If that wasp were predisposed toward wearing pants, I'm quite certain that at this moment they would be at the epicenter of a massive conflagration!

Mayhap there be soul bees instead? They who gather emotions and aspirations leaked/released into the ether to form the ever-coveted substance, the phantasm nectar (made in a similar fashion). Or maybe just perform smooth jazz? Are you hundred percent sure it's a wasp? I'm not hundred percent sure about anything anymore ;_; Going by simple and crude comparison on googled images, it seems to be more similar to a wasp than a hornet, but that's just me.

This makes me wonder about Hetty... a spirit crustacean, while this is a spirit wasp. Does this mean Hetty may have been either one of Ys's army members or a child of the SB?

Okay, waspy-wasp-wasping...
I do not know the hymenopteran so well that I could certainly tell that it is a wasp, although it looks much like a one. The head, to me, seems a bit smallish and non-waspy and in fact, even the rear-end, while not as slender as with many other hymenopteran, does not seem quite as thick as that of what I would call a regular wasp. Wasps also tend to have hairy front parts, at least the ones I have seen. Of course, there are many different species of wasps, of which some do not have hairy front. But then again, there are probably also species of hymenopteran that look similar to this and are not wasps.
Now that I think of it, this looks quite like the whatever it is again that is called a "spider-hunting wasp". Spider-hunting wasp, by the way, is a parasitic hymenopteran.

Now, could this still also turn out to be all just Annie's training? That Ys and Coyote jump out of the bush yelling "very well, Annie - although I had to tell you it was lying, now come and have a cup of tea with forest's army... this is Buzzy, by the way..."
...I doubt it, but it could still be marginally possible.

To me the ribbon suggesting that Coyote is intervening speaks to some extent against the "oh, that was your training" -scenario. If it was just her training, all planned by Coyote (and Ys), shouldn't she realize it herself that the thing is lying?

To me the ribbon suggesting that Coyote is intervening speaks to some extent against the "oh, that was your training" -scenario. If it was just her training, all planned by Coyote (and Ys), shouldn't she realize it herself that the thing is lying? Hmm. The nature of that LIAR ribbon is rather dubious. Perhaps it's a sort of aid to prevent Annie from falling into the trap too far, if this is, indeed, training? Although it might be at the back of her head, she did seem to be engrossed with the creature's tale to think about the possibility of a trap. So it may be that Coyote deemed fit to give her that little hint. Or, as Jim North say, that thing could be Coyote and that LIAR ribbon is just some sort of subconscious reaction (defensive mechanism?) Annie is having or had developed after spending time with Coyote after entering the ether for some short instance. Still, this is all speculation after all. So I'm trying to find how it may work if this is a training scenario (or chapter).

So the rest of the comic we see Annie being eaten alive by the wasps offspring; somehow I don't think so. But I think she failed a test needing Coyotes help to see the thing for what it is.

Kind of irrelevant, but the art on the last few pages has just been gorgeous. Must have something to do with the detail and colour combinations...
Oh, and anyone notice that Annie's hair and scar returned to normal in the last panel?

Well this is almost certainly a hymenopteran, and seeing as it's clearly not a sawfly, a bee or an ant (not even a flying ant), then it's a wasp (possibly a hornet, but hornets are just big wasps).
Also that wasp is a lying liar who lies.
