Yeah, I think it's a wise idea to bow out at this point Annie

Did anyone else notice the ghostly outline for the "psst" guy's text? It makes me think it's some sort of ghostly spirit thing, like a will-o'-the-wisp.

Not sure if it really is wise to follow some strange ghost voice to lead you away from your protector when you're at monster-filled ruins with all kinds of dangers creeping from all corners. I mean, how many friendly figures has she seen there so far? So, who does she think is calling for her? Mary Poppins? Or perhaps a little-girl eating monsteroghost from somebody's nightmares? I know what I would put my money on.

This isn't going to end well, it'll just be another of these nasty types trying to be a little more subtle. And lure her away from the giant wolf/tree monster of pain that is Ysengrin.

That mysterious light looks suspiciously like the artistic representation of the Bismuth Seed to me. It would fit to being in old, crumbly parts of the early court.

"Look this way. Here she goes, here she goes. I see it. Go this way, go this way, go this way... Out the window. Out the window! Don't let her get out the window!"
In other news, I wonder if Ysengrin has lost track of why he's here. He does seem to get a little caught up in these more physical moments.

Every once in a while you just have to beat the crap out of your army. How else are they going to be ready for war?

A careful whisper from the far past could be illuminating, on all sorts of Court secrets. Plus, they could have candy. Go for it.

I just have the "Stay Alert, Stay Safe" PSA about strangers talking to you on the street flashing I'm my mind right now. This dates me terribly unfortunately. Also, it's probably just a North American thing, i'm not sure if Europe had stranger danger PSAs in the 90s.
Anyway, yea either the glowy thing is bad news or maybe someone Annie met in the forest before, one of Khepi's brood perhaps trying to help her out?
I really do hope Annie gets to use Fire-power sometime in this chapter though

Pity that was two decades after I lived there; I'd have liked to see both (was that cat live-action or animation?).

Ya know, the last time we saw speech bubbles inside speech bubbles like this was when Robot was possessed by EvilShadow (lacking a better name for that character). I wonder if it's related somehow...

Well, of course. Everything you need to know you will hear from The Big Brother a drugged ginger cat. Like god, like prophets. Ya know, the last time we saw speech bubbles inside speech bubbles like this was when Robot was possessed by EvilShadow (lacking a better name for that character). I wonder if it's related somehow... Those were less "wobbly" and more "slapped on top". But close, yes. So, it's either that, or echo. Or some sort of a hivemind.

And whose problem would you expect this to be? "The bars on the cage aren't there to protect the tiger..." Yeah she can protect herself with, uh, fake illusionary fire. I don't think her powers of illusionary fire will work as well on the etheric beings of the forest than they do on humans. They create the illusion of heat, which works on humans, but leave no damage behind, as the comics you link to show.

The fact that she's in control of it to the extent of not burning things she doesn't want to burn (the forest, in Residential) does not establish that she can't burn what she wants to burn. Eglamore seemed pretty cautious about it when she flamed him, remember.

I'd say Annie shouldn't listen to this guy, but her situation already seemed pretty unsafe. I guess in the forest anything you do is no more or less dangerous then whatever you happened to be doing, so she might as well wander off with this guy.

Do you mean that those flash-boiled lamp posts (2-nd link) were illusionary or made of humans? They look relatively intact in the next panel. The blackened effect could be a representation of the shadow that the fire is casting. But really, the conversation with Renard earlier makes it clear that she can burn things when she wants to. She just didn't feel like melting lamp posts to slag that time, I guess.

...or those aren't the same lamp posts, but ones that were farther. from the flash.
