Next page: Coyote bursts out of nowhere before Annie can learn anything of consequence (that Ys remembers nothing).
I'm enjoying the softer, more textured backgrounds on yesterday and today's page. Especially in the buildings on Friday; I'm used to more flatness. Nice change of pace.

Oh dear. Ys doesn't deal well with confrontation.

On the other hand, Ys should also still be as friendly as before.

So, do we tell the mentally highly unstable wolf demon dude, who controls the trees in the forest we're walking through, who nearly killed us the last time we talked about something he did not like, that his god/boyfriend/boss is mind raping him?
And speaking of him: What exactly is Coyote hunting?

And speaking of him: What exactly is Coyote hunting? Anything he wants, I'd wager. Also, poor Ysengrin. His friend is being all distant and he has no idea why.

Coyote is hunting Annie. She's going to have to run the gauntlet between trees that he knocks over in her path. This is called...

I suppose that was pretty good phrasing of the question. At least she didn't ask something like "Why did you attack me last time we were here?" Heh.

I suspect the next page will be what you say. :/ The amounts of awkwardness in the first half of this page is approaching Fire Spike levels of stomach-churning. I too am enjoying the soft backgrounds! Whatever texture it is Tom has chosen since he started using them at all has been very lovely. I especially like the one he uses for flashbacks of Surma-times.

And speaking of him: What exactly is Coyote hunting? Probably chasing quantum instabilities around the fabric of space time. Not to eat them y'understand. Just because they give a good hunt.

One problem with a shape-shifting trickster god is that you're never really sure that you're not already talking to him.

Is she onto Coyote or is she just very brave and blunt? Almost certainly the latter. She has little reason to suspect what Coyote did, and her rigid backbone and calm demeanor have marked her since the beginning of the comic.

She has little reason to suspect what Coyote did, and her rigid backbone and calm demeanor have marked her since the beginning of the comic. Jones did mention that Coyote might be tampering with Ysengrin's mind. Those like you who blatantly write off Annie's ability to peer into the thicker plots make it more difficult to argue in favor of her natural intuitive and otherworldly empathetic responses to those around her. Like the way many say that Annie couldn't possibly know about Kat and Paz being together, despite her very direct and pointed remark about Kat's juvenile romantic history IN THE MIDST OF THE GIRL SHE'S DATING. Afford the main character of a story actual intelligence.

Afford the main character of a story actual intelligence. Except that as recently as here we get an explicit message from Tom "Annie does not know yet." That could very well have been yesterday from their perspective. There is no reason to think she figured it out since the last time we saw her.
