Seems to happen once every other chapter at least, that someone finds the art to be different somehow... I can never see it, except that it keeps getting better. It's just a bit fluid, in my opinion.

I snooped around your recent posts because I was curious as to why exactly you aren't into their relationship, and I found this written in the Catalyst chapter: I have no idea what you mean by unnecessary, but I don't agree with your sentiments. I've read the comic since Tom was still working on The Broken Glass chapter in particular, and I think there are certain nuances in his character interactions that you have to pay more attention to. As to your opinion about it being sudden and out of nowhere, the element of surprise exists in storytelling to keep it interesting, and though it was a surprising (but not to some readers) turn of events, it was given ample justification by previous events in the work. Bad surprises are when they do not seem to agree with the trend of developments, when they forcefully derail the work from where it seemed to have been going. They throw off our willing suspension of disbelief, and create a story that does not make sense. Good surprises do nothing to our suspension of disbelief, and may even strengthen it, as they sufficiently hide themselves from speculation but at the same time concurring with developments in the work. In Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones to non-readers), recent events have been indeed very surprising to viewers, but if they had stopped for a moment to reconsider the political situation in the plot, the given circumstances would not necessarily have been surprising. What was indeed surprising to the TV viewers was the writer's fearlessness. Whereas forced, I do not agree with you at all because their characters have known each other for awhile and it has been clear that Kat's personal sexuality has been an important issue for quite awhile now. As I have said, ample justification was provided. Paz had comforted Kat about the Court's behavior many chapters back, and they had shared a valuable moment of affinity. As for unnecessary, I have no idea what you mean by that at all and I must admit that it irks me to hear that without sufficient explanation. Just wanted to put my two cents in. Lurker here for years, finally withdrawing from the dark. |

Yeah, it's literally the longest single page discussion thread out there. Parts of it were not pretty. (Relative to around here, relative to the rest of the interwebz everything was very civil) We should get a Portmanteau for Kat/Paz I wonder when Annie's gonna comment on Kat hanging out with Paz more. It's still possible that she does know what's going on, she just sees no need to say anything. Very unlikely, but potentially hilarious. |

How do you figure that? All we've seen of this relationship so far is "sure, let's go out together" some blushing and hanging out together between classes, and today's strip. I hardly see any difference between this and picking up, say, a movie for date night instead. |

I really want to see more of Kat and Paz... and of course it'd be interesting to see how Annie deals with memory-modified!Ysengrin. Will she believe him when he says he doesn't know what she's talking about? And what will happen if she discovers that Coyote's behind it? I mean, learning that your boss is capital-E Evil (or at the very least verging on it) can't be very comforting. |

I don't think the art itself is actually that different but the way the setting is drawn seems a bit new. The court seems a bit more "normal" than usual to me in this strip. The hallways are well lit and colored in natural tones rather than the dreary purple and gray. Also, everyone seems to be dressed more casually than we've seen in the past. |
