My immediate instinct was, "Fire Flower."

Flowers growing through the stones of the court? I'm thinking Ysengrin is involved.

It's about Parley learning to drive.

One of Ysengrin's seeds got away from the quarantine?
Could also refer to something with a steep learning curve.
Monday will reveal all, bar the plot details!

It's about Parley learning to drive. Even scarier: Jones teaching Parley to drive ("I have never found bunker walls to be a significant obstacle.")

The Archive Thumbnail is interesting. That light looks like the representation of the Seed Bismuth.

Well to a puny car, a concrete wall is a significant obstacle. To Jonesey... Haha. Nah.
Also would like to point out that this is the 1234th page. Happy milestone Tom!

The 1000th page was the one where Annie got a phone call from her dad. The page note was something like "The key word was 'hear'".
On the other base, the note for the 1024th page was a simple "Thanks for reading."
Conclusion: Tom is a binary geek.

It's about Parley learning to drive. Parley learning how to be Court Protector?

I don't think we necessarily should take the picture of flowers growing in the court literally. It's very nice as a metaphor too, especially considering the nature of this story.

The Archive Thumbnail is interesting. That light looks like the representation of the Seed Bismuth. Interesting. We have been getting a lot of revelations lately: Coyotes great secret, the nature of Jones, the mediums getting chosen, Renard's true intentions, as well as progress concerning Kat & Paz. So, if things continue like this I wouldn't be surprised if the next thing to be revealed is the nature of the Seed Bismuth! Or at least some clues about it.

It looks to me like the Court and Forest are going to collide... one way or another.

Well since a crash course is "a rapid and intense course of training or research usually undertaken in an emergency" (quoting for non-native speakers such as myself), I'm voting for either Parley or Andrew - maybe both - taking a crash course in their respective roles for some kind of emergency regarding the court and the forest.
It's really hot here and that affects my brains, so crazy theory time; could this title refer to a collision course, like microsat 5 or something else falling into the forest? Maybe that's what is shown in the archive picture. I don't know, I need something to cool myself down.

The mortar is cracked and some bricks are dislodged, so maybe some walls will come crashing down...

Well, we can discuss whether it's as in "fireflower growing 101" or as in "collision course". Just to get it out of the way and move on past speculations about the flower's colors to petals count. We have been getting a lot of revelations lately: [...] the nature of Jones, [...] Renard's true intentions Hmm, and what are these? I must have missed something.

Let me rephrase: We have learnt a lot about Jones (even though she's still a mystery), and we now know that Renard actually did want to kill Annie, but has since regretted his actions... For Gunnerkrigg Court, that's a lot of new information.

Hmm my first thoughts were regarding learning and teaching, but something going wrong. and given the flowers inside the court I was thinking about one of the habitats being involved. There aren't any coyote symbols anywhere so I'm unsure whether the forest is involved. Basically, no idea

Two separate lessons, who's progress will come to an ill competition. Perhaps, some "zero sum" consequences, for people bouncing back and forth, between the Forest and the Court.
My first thought: "Up through the cracks, Up through the broken glass, In hot-red light, Or black 'n' white, Roses grow."

AUGH I also always forget about the archive thumbnail. To me, this looks like a view through the length of the Annan River gorge, viewed from a point about 3/4 from the floor. What the white, wispy light is, however... I love the cover page picture. Really captures the overall 'feel' of GK for me...

Perhaps it's one of the court's old buildings, destroyed after the divide was carved. Or, i's one of the court's many buildings in a severe state of disrepair. Young's old house, maybe, since the robots won't maintain it.

The novelty of the Fire-Head Forest Medium's stay in the Court is causing divisions, perhaps even a schism, among the supporting rocks of Court society.
Pink Floyd may or may not be referenced.

Hah, I literally had the exact same song in my head on seeing the chapter cover. If it is a forest/court collision, it will be interesting to see how that works out, since that would officially pit Annie (representing the Forest's interests) against Smitty in any negotiations.

The flower looks like a marigold. The other leaves look like basil. Probably completely useless information, but you never know.
