Not sure what to call em: Tom's comments at the bottom of each page. They really help set the atmosphere, and a lot of them are just flat out hilarious. It's kind of impressive how Tom is able to detach himself from the role of author of a plot-heavy comic and make whatever comment is appropriate for the mood of the reader. For example, the Zimmingham sequence in Spring-Heeled II, the notes kept saying Buzzz, which makes the scene - already creepy as hell - become skin crawling, jittery, WTF IS THAT BUZZING creepy. Of course, most of the comments are page by page reactions to the comic from the perspective of a reader: 713 and 714, for instance, from spring-heeled I. This tradition makes silences much more emotionally significant, as in the sequence of Annie running to the forest after the bombshell in Fire Spike. So here are some of my favorites: 889 Hahaha! Read the next page too . 512 Uhhhhmm.....eeerrrrr...? 449 Heeheeheheheh! And all of 'Red Gets a Name'. What are your favorites, and what do you think of the notes in general?

I like a couple from Red Returns:
"There are days when we have all bin junk."
"Thank you for reading this chapter about girls getting haircuts."

I always enjoyed his polite insistence that we have no idea who Eggy is.

I still mourn the loss of the "Don't worry. Next chapter will be about guitars and monster trucks," note at the end of chapter 13.

I still mourn the loss of the "Don't worry. Next chapter will be about guitars and monster trucks," note at the end of chapter 13. The consequence of Tom realizing that sarcasm doesn't work well in print. (To paraphrase a "Simpsons" quote, "Mr. Burns can't see you winking over the phone, Homer.")

What Todd's referring to: Back when ch 14 was still updating, an annoyingly large number of people posted (both in the forum and in the shoutbox below the latest page) "Hey, where are those guitars and monster trucks?" It was impossible to tell which of them had genuinely not recognized Tom's sarcasm, and which of them were jokesters who never noticed that five hundred people had already made the same joke. Tom got so sick of it that he just removed his "guitars and monster trucks" note from the page.

What made matters worse was that this was a major chapter - and people are giving more attention to the guitars and monster trucks showing up than to the diplomatic incident between the Court and the Forest that Annie's past actions had caused, the introductions of Coyote and Jones, the revelation that the Tic-Toc Birds are as much a mystery to the Court as to Annie and Kat, etc.

Actually, I may be making this up, but I think I remember seeing that note before it was... taken from us forever.

What happens if you take a small man, then embiggen him, then ensmallen him, and then keep doing this for a while, what do you get? Will he have, like, jpg artefacts?

*tips melon hat, whistling the Pan Tau theme*Pan Tau was a joint German-Czech production about a little man inside a toy house, who could use his magical hat to transform into Neville Chamberlain and back. I watched a few episodes on video-tape as a kid. Edit: I don't actually wear a hat. This is the sole difference between me and my avatar. Edit for Historians, such as myself at times: Said chap with the fancy vanilla-coloured chapeau originated from a Rembrandt painting. It was my first avatar. The current one is from The Education of the Children of Clovis and pretty much looks like me, actually.

a little man inside a toy house, who could use his magical hat to transform into Neville Chamberlain and back Imagine how much different the show would have been if he transformed into Winston Churchill. 100% more rum, cigars and flippant remarks.

Churchill himself later denied it to Hopkins’ biographer, insisting it was “nonsense,” and that he “never received the President without at least a bath towel wrapped around him.” He also cleverly noted, “I could not possibly have made such a statement” about nothing to hide, because the “President himself would have been well aware that it was not strictly true.”Thank goodness I wasn't drinking anything while reading that, otherwise I would now be wiping down my monitor with a paper towel.
