Today's out of context quote: "If you want me to carry your ill-gotten items inside me, Hetty, then yes."

Hm... just a friend, huh? Still thinkin' it's maybe not Surma's place.
Or maybe Hetty doesn't need more ammo, hah.

Brinnie maybe? I dunno who else it could be, assuming it isn't someone new. The flashback showed Ray knew more people from the court then just Surma, so assumne he knew her freinds isn't to much a stretch. But then by that same token, it could be anyone. My second guess is some sort if floating air shark.

I've gotta be honest, I'm not liking this chapter at all so far. Like... I love the comic and all, but everything going on right now I just straight don't care.

Hm... well that's unfortunate. During the Jones chapter, I'm sure some people took a break, as they were feeling the same way. I don't know how you can't feel sympathy or anything else for one of the main characters, though. Not caring seems pretty harsh.

Hetty's just mad because Reynardine's wolf form makes her look short.

So, Rey is walking around with a box of assorted needles, a handfull of office pins, a can of lighter fluid AND a box of matches inside? I would feel at least slightly uneasy in his place.

We have new character who wants needles, pins and lighter fluid, and suggesting murder, and main character who so far is helping her get them just because asked despite supposedly regretting killing someone in past. Wanting to cause itch, pain, arson and death do not always encourage sympathy.

Wouldn't make sense why he is knocking at the door though, Renard KNOWS he's dead. Didn't look to me like he was knocking the door and expecting an answer. It seemed more like ritual penance. To me it seemed that Renard has done that route many times, going from the door of the man he killed to his grave.

After taking care of Annie and seeing her in danger, the knowledge of what he's done to them could weigh heavy on him. The dead feel no shame or pain, only the survivors.

The Jones chapter, at least, was interesting because it was exploring an enigma via slow reveal (though, yes, it got a bit tedious). This, however... I don't find trouble maker characters interesting or endearing, especially when they find so much glee in their work (Peeves the poltergeist got a smile from me only when he was celebrating victory with the rest of Hogwarts). And the fact that Renard is being so jelly-spined about all this is very disheartening. I just want to move on to something else, or at least have Rey do something proactive.

Does Renard's weight change when his form changes? Or he still weights about... well... how much a plushie toy may weight? Not more than 0.5 kg, I suppose.

...And the fact that Renard is being so jelly-spined about all this is very disheartening... IMO that part not clear yet, Renard *appears* to be jelly-spined about all this. Last frame of current page could be symbol of human, and hint that Renard supports/protects humans.

Tom doesn't have boring chapters, unless you count the one about Jones, and frankly all the bitching about OKAY WE KNOW SHES SUPER OLD GEEZE was way overblown considering the coolness of the story. Hetty wasn't a spur of the moment addition, and I doubt she'll disappear without a bang.

I didn't find Stone to be boring in the least. I'm also not finding this chapter boring at all.
Perhaps I am just boring myself or too easily amused?

I got to admit this chapter hasn't grabbed me so far (and I didn't find the Jones chapter that boring... it was interesting to see Jones' backstory). I mean, it's amusing to see what kind of person hangs out with when not with Annie, +some info on who he possessed, but I can't say I find myself falling for Hetty yet.
Ah well, maybe it will pick up.

What we've seen so far seems to be just buildup. We've entered into Hetty's story in medias res, without any context to her character. We're not supposed to know just what to think about her and her relationship with Renard until the chapter's end, if even then. I'm not bored by this in the slightest, but I do think that this type of storyline works better when you read it at once, instead of following it bit by bit over the course of several weeks. Gunnerkrigg Court isn't as much a webcomic as a comic that just happens to be published on the web, and doesn't really follow the conventions of the medium; it doesn't try to make every single page equally interesting or insert some sort of climax at the end of every strip. This isn't really a problem, as long as you go in with this outlook in mind.

I think it would be funny if the chapter ends soon with no explanation of what all these supplies are for, and we never see Hetty again. Just to mess with you guys.

I tend to blithely assume that the pacing, level of exposition and ratio of sympathetic to unsympathetic characters is appropriate for the kind of story Tom is telling at the moment, so I don't continually rate the comic based on those criteria. Some chapters are more to my liking than others based on arbitrary preferences and I also tend to blithely assume that no one is very interested in this.
Hetty seemed a little like Obvious Moral Counterpoint when she first appeared (when the author comment was "Hetty has priorities" I thought, "yeah, to be a moral counterpoint"), but I'm not really any less interested to see what Tom does with her than any other stuff in the comic.

True, if I wasn't so bored lately I might have tried taking a break for a few weeks or so. As it is, this chapter is better than nothing. The art is good, like usual. I just remembered earlier in this comic people were worrying about the style-change, but it's still looking pretty gunnerkrigg.

I quite like this chapter so far, but then, I find Hetty adorably evil and I'm very interested in understanding Renard better.

People also thought that Renard's forehead symbol had changed when it hadn't in the slightest. I'm thinking people are just starting to look for things that aren't there for some reason.

Hetty screaming, "Hell hath no fury like a dolly scorned!", followed by a Michael Bay explosion.

I think this chapter is pretty interesting, in the sense that Hetty is already a loathsome, horrifying villain and I want to find out more about her.

Compare Rey's Mercury symbol and the Antimony symbol on the doll on page 54. Also compare the Antimony symbols on pages 80 and 214. The symbol Rey is now displaying is different. It looks very much like a combination of the two symbols.
