Well there are those needles from the chapter image...
Why do I get the feeling something is going to go disastrously wrong and Renard is going to get the blame?

Either that, or he may "innocently" prank the little arsonist in turn. Depending on what exactly Annie's control over flame allows, he could even make her visit somewhere close enough at the time just to put a little elemental fear into Hetty and then pretend it was purely accidental. "So, uh... 'simpering', you said? Hee-hee..."

Not sure why, but it gives me a slight vibe from Struwwelpeter. I guess one could build something grenade-like from glass fiber, pins and lighter fluid, but straight out arson doesn't seem to be Hetty's MO... I like to think that Renard actually is in control, has a plan and is just doing damage control while humoring Hetty. Similar to Bud in Faraway Morning.

Probably not straight out, but as limited special effects - not harmful on their own (she have limitations, after all), but provoking a responce enhancing the disaster. Or the opposite - as long as she's not the one knocking a candle into puddle of "accidentally spilled" lighter fluid...

See, this is exactly the kind of anarchy that happens when an authority figure like Mr Donlan sets a bad example...

For some reason I get the feeling that all these shenanigans will turn out to be something completely harmless and that Hetty only has a way of making things sound way more exciting and sinister than they actually are...
That said, a possessed doll with matches, lighter fluid and assorted needles and pins sure sounds like a recipe for disaster (no, not Randy).

The idea of "hot needle therapy" came to mind, but frag grenade sounds worse :/
Context: "hot needle therapy" is basically sticking needles into a fire to heat them up, then stabbing them into a voodoo doll. However, nothing at this point suggests voodooism. The chapter image was very chemical/scientific in nature..

Uh! Why is the symbol on Rey's head suddenly a combination of both Antimony and Mercury instead of one or the other? The plot thickens!

I would've thought pipe bomb rather than grenade? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pipe_bombSymbol of Antimony + Mercury ... perhaps represents the fact that Rey has more ability to do what he rather than Annie wants, especially in this given moment . Interestingly there is a substance called "red mercury" that contains both mercury and antimony en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_mercury with a chequered past that was rumoured to have something to do with nuclear bomb making (but probably didn't)

We are the arsonist what arsons at midnight? For some reason I get the feeling that all these shenanigans will turn out to be something completely harmless and that Hetty only has a way of making things sound way more exciting and sinister than they actually are. Me too. I just hope they use caution. They're the ones that are flammable, after all.

However, nothing at this point suggests voodooism. The chapter image was very chemical/scientific in nature.. My first thought was actually voodoo dolls, or building and then burning an effigy. Thematically, it would make sense as revenge for doll-related grievances, I suppose. Or maybe Adam is actually another doll himself and this will involve a hideous, Frankensteinian grafting procedure (*wildly throws theory darts*).

Maybe Hetty's actually 'in love' with Adam, and this is her way of showing it.

LAUGHING ON LINE @ Steam Engine. Might as well go with the wild theorizing. This could very well be a classic case of Stockholm Syndrome, hybridized with Shounen-Style love-to-hate-him.

Needles in the food. a fire started in the closet. or under the windows and in front of the doors. with chemical accelerant to keep it going. Hetty sees this Adam as the cause of all of her life's problems and the reason she is trapped as a doll. Pretty sure she is the cause of herself being trapped in the doll and that she intends to kill the poor boy for her troubles. Reynardine unfortunately will get most of the blame if caught. or perhaps Renard will foul hetty's plans and save the poor boy from her intentions.

Egad! Did anybody else notice that Renard's forehead symbol is exactly the same as it's always been?! Freaky! Well there are those needles from the chapter image... Mystery solved!

I noticed it is the same as it has always been, but I also noticed that he's switched into wolf form, which usually indicates his more "noble" character. Also, we've never seen him use the lockpicks other than as a doll.

I wonder if he can use lockpicks as fingers. And why does he still live in girls' dorms? Shouldn't he be moved to boys? He could learn so many new things there, for example, what is pizza, beer, Xbox, Internet...

I doubt it's a destructive device. Lighter fluid wouldn't give you the kind of velocity you'd need for fragmentation, that requires a high explosive that releases all its energy at once, and they're not picking up any champagne bottles so we can rule out any of Molotov's concoctions. I hope we meet some more "trapped soul doll creatures" or whatever category these two fall under. Just for context.
