"Rings of Akhaten" was crap. "The Angels take Manhattan" was crap. "The Cold War" was crap. The entire season 7 was crap. Except "Hide" and "The town called Mercy".

I won't get into an argument about Moffat's skill in writing plots, but I loved "Manhattan" if only for the scenes with River and Eleven.

There's this thread which was started by a spambot but was repurposed as a random (and I mean random) chat thread. Good call! Let's use that thread to discuss how the new Random Chat thread must be! Thanks mezzaphor! The one type of off-topic thread I would like the most right now is an "Other webcomics" thread (or even better, subforum), where you can gush/ask/complain about webcomics. Last night I found a new comic and then realized I had read 12 years' worth of updates in a couple of hours (depressingly, there are probably several comics that this could describe). I can't be bothered to register on a strange forum to vent my ambivalence. As far as I know the general assumption has been that off-topic content is frowned upon here because Tom doesn't particularly want to be responsible for a part of the internet if it doesn't relate to his comic. I'm not sure if he ever said as much straight out, but I do seem to remember someone asking if we could have an OT forum section and Tom saying no.

Sounds like heaven to me, cadet. As for the latter paragraph, I don't recall Tom saying anything on the subject, then again, I can say that about a lot of subjects. Apparently "motherfucking Gyarados" crossed some kind of invisible line that necessitated deletion, so I suppose if anybody wants to make an off-topic post they'll have to do it in the traditional way: in a discussion thread that has veered wildly off course. I don't think Tom or anyone else would object to an "other webcomics thread". That is kind of what Annie in the Forest turned into once everyone got bored of wondering when the heck Tom would post it online.

The forums have grown large enough that we need to partition a separate area of the forums to take care of the population's waste products.

It would take about a second to make a third forum titled "Waste Products". Then we could watch what cropped up... almost like fungus! Ok, maybe that is taking the analogy too far.

My parents' cat tried to murder me today for not feeding her on time when I was at their place catsitting. It turns out that fire is painful.

Cats are devious, but setting people on fire usually requires opposable thumbs, right? OK, that picture made me laugh. But fortunately for me, she just managed to turn the stove on and caused a small fire. I ended up screwing with the fire blanket and getting my hand burned while putting it out. At least I got away with just a whole bunch of blisters, but the next time I'm looking after her I'm taking out fuses for all electric appliances I'm not using right at that moment.

If that had happened at a different time the entire house could have gone up... Luckily there is a handy diagnostic guide for determining if your cat is actually trying to kill you.

If that had happened at a different time the entire house could have gone up... Well, everything is fortunate compared to a kitty with a flamethrower. But yeah, I was pretty lucky, considering that I was just about to go out when the fire alarm started to scream. But seriously, I still don't get how a cat even manages to flip those switches. She must have taken it into her mouth or something. She took real effort on that assassination attempt.
