It's not trolling, it's just a normal narrative gimmick. The meaning of "trolling" has evolved beyond its original boundaries, as Internet neologisms tend to do. And it's not like I was complaining. It's old school dot-matrix printing paper. Note the holes on both sides which the printer uses to roll the paper forward. Those are normally meant to be torn off once you've done with the printing, but isn't here, for some reason.

I always thought a robot would be most likely, but for some reason now I think Paz is possible too.
I still think it's mostly likely Robot or a random robot though.

Thanks for clarifying! I wonder why the sides weren't torn off, then... Maybe Tom trying to indicate that it was done on the computer without actually showing the contents of the letter? Or someone who wouldn't know to tear the sides off?

My opinion is that its Robot, despite being in a qausi-relationship, he is the most obsessed with Kat, and unlike most robots he does have a eloquent speaking pattern.
I dont really see how it could be Paz because except for mistaking Kats intentions once she has not expressed any feeling and judging how she is with mat I would say shes not very good at hiding her feeling.
I dont see Aly as a very likly suspect etheir cause A) hes a bird, B) What Tom said, and C) Where would he get paper, a computer, an old printer, print ink, or even electricity in the middle of the tech hating woods?

Also, is this the first time we've seen the cafeteria? We saw it in the last panel of this bonus page: gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1127 I don't think we've seen a pulled out view of the cafeteria before though.

Panel 5 here probably shows it. They have a straw and knife in front of them. I just re-read that page, and I noticed the outside reference I saw and appreciated the first time I read through the early pages of GKC. I went back and read the discussion for page 248, but it did not mention it at all. I did not want to necro a thread from 2007, and wasn't really sure it was worth it's own topic, so I'll just ask here: Did anyone else notice the reference and do they know the source? I'm just wondering if anyone else here reads the same material.

What a tease. Hopefully we will get to hear the rest of the story by the end, at least.
And Kat doesn't look too happy about the letter, does she?

I just realized that not only do we not know what they were running from, we probably won't know about who sent the letter either. All that's left to do is speculate on what will interrupt the revelation.

Well now you're just trolling, Mr. Siddell. TROLLING
*a-hem*
I suspect Annie's account wasn't entirely reliable... maybe a little bit exaggareting?

New theory! (I hope the dart board is big enough) Kat thinks it's Paz so she acts on it (for better or worse) but it was actually from a robot, robots, or the robot collective. The Cafeteria has been seen before, back in the Stone after Annie saw Jones smile The other alternative is that it's someone we either don't know or don't suspect... Etheric creatures: - The psychopomps don't seem the type...

Lest we forget that Annie picks locks and occasionally filches things.

This is bugging me to death, everything... Who sent the letter? ...And what were they running from? Even more importantly, what does the letter say and why did even Eglamore look surprised?
I'm guessing the answer to all of the above questions is; Coyote. Okay, not really, but wouldn't it be hilarious?

New theory! (I hope the dart board is big enough) Oh don't worry, the dartboard has long since broken it's string and fallen on the floor under the weight of all the wild guesses lobbed at it. We just spray-painted the whole wall with a bulls-eye so we can keep chucking madly. It's not trolling, it's just a normal narrative gimmick. Has there ever been a name given to the blonde-haired girl that keeps appearing in the background?

We just spray-painted the whole wall with a bulls-eye so we can keep chucking madly. What wall? All I see is a forest of darts. I'm still confused why people are still thinking it's Paz, though. If it was a letter of apology it would have been signed, and a love letter from her only makes sense in the warped mind of a shipper.

Has there ever been a name given to the blonde-haired girl that keeps appearing in the background? Tom's Misc. Person #09216-E There is a whole revolving closet full of them somewhere in the court. In between panels they brush off the spiders, wheel in a new batch, and hope there aren't any repeats. (They aren't always successful. Case in point, the assembly at the beginning of the second year.)

That one at least has the excuse of Jack's mind being possibly messed up. In contrast, I'd rate Paz among the sanest characters in the comic.

Annie isn't a fire elemental, she's a psych elemental. I just realized that not only do we not know what they were running from, we probably won't know about who sent the letter either. All that's left to do is speculate on what will interrupt the revelation. I think that would be awesome and hilarous, though I'd like to see what it was in the chapter close. How about the Robot King sendin the letter. Perhaps, he needs a queen... with a dry eraser.

I completely agree with you, but was having a hard time articulating this opinion last night. Glad I can depend on you to do the hard work for me.

I think all signs point to a robot being the letter's author. Kat really seems to be self-conscious about it though. I wonder what the bird (pigeon?) foot at the beginning of the chapter has to do with all this...

You just have to see last chapter to see they are a bit more than that I think we had this debate while it was going on, actually. Unless more is shown otherwise, the relationship between Robot and Shadow can be interpreted either way. They share a love, but that does not necessarily make them lovers or "an item."

I don't think they're an item and I don't think they're just best friends. Just something in-between. Before anyone says with benefits, not that either. A very very close platonic relationship...

A very very close platonic relationship... And, truly, there ought to be more super-close platonic relationships in media. Romance is not the end-all-be-all of being close to someone.
