I am 100% confident in saying that if I had an infinity, the only thing that would worry me would be ending up like Jones rather than Coyote. ;D Really? I'd worry the inverse. Maybe the visits to the forest have fulfilled their role in the story, and so are coming to an end. Let's see... Annie's interactions with the Forest so far: - She was given the beacon by Eglamore, and learned about the Forest-Court "Exchange Program" and Renard's (Coyote-given) powers.
- She was schmoozed by Coyote, shown Ysengrin's secret and Renard's body, taught telekinesis, and given one of Coyote's Teeth.
- She cried on Ysengrin's shoulder, learned of her heritage and stayed the summer in the Forest.
- She was told Coyote's "Great Secret", got some first-hand experience of Ysengrin's dark side, and finally used the beacon Eglamore gave her.
So, yeah I'd say this theme has been played pretty thoroughly. No loose ends that can't be tied off elsewhere. Tom could continue on with it, of course; but if he plans on ending it anytime soon, now would be the time to do it. Thus would mark the end of a major theme in the comic. Which is a good thing, I think: stagnation leads to decay, and Gunnerkrigg court moves slowly enough already. It'll still be Gunnerkrigg Court afterwards, but occasional Changes to the pacing keeps things moving forward.

It depends on how long of a segment of Annie's life we are going to see.
Something tells me this isn't going to be over for a while yet. The forest makes up at least half of the world of the comic, if not more. There's still plenty we don't know about it.

True, true; the Forest isn't going away anytime soon.
But the way Annie interacts with it will probably never be the same.

Also, I don't think this will really stop Annie from visiting the forest. I mean, she'll have to find some way of sneaking over, Etherically. That would be the obvious way. Evidence suggests that she no longer needs the blinker stone.

Evidence suggests that she no longer needs the blinker stone. I'm a bajillion percent sure that either Jeanne stops etheric beings from crossing over either side or that the court has to have some sort of barrier/detection system. Of course, that's how sure I was about Annie being medium, so...

Actually....that brings up an important question. So far the plan with Jeanne is to confront her/defeat her in order to help her cross over, right? But what if she's the court's secret gate keeper and helping her move on opens the door for the forest to invade?
What if coyote knew this and that's why he gave Annie his tooth?

Etherically. That would be the obvious way. Evidence suggests that she no longer needs the blinker stone. Even assuming she can "project" that far without it, have you forgotten where she got that cut on her face?

I wasn't suggesting that she slip into the etherium, climb down the chasm, walk across, and climb up the other side. She could just as well take the bridge. Or fly. Or teleport. (Come to think of it, she could fly over *without* going into the etherium. Although she may need more practice for that. I wonder what safeguards the Court has regarding flying students.)

She could just as well take the bridge. Or fly. Or teleport. I highly doubt that Jeanne is that easy to bypass. (Assuming of course, the range of Annie's "etheric projection" sans-blinker stone is more than 5 meters. We haven't ever seen Annie that far from her body without it.) (Come to think of it, she could fly over *without* going into the etherium. Although she may need more practice for that. I wonder what safeguards the Court has regarding flying students.) It's kinda hard to tell how wide the Annan Waters are, but a few hundred meters is probably a good guess. Walking across the bridge probably takes a good ten minutes give or take five, but flying (really floating)? Probably even longer, even if Annie's etheric endurance can hold up... Plenty of time for someone to go fetch a net.
